Role: Field Supervisor

Location: Mysore Rural/ Tumkur/ Hassan, Karnataka

Position Type: Contract-based full-time role

Contract Duration - 1 year (extension on need basis)

Remuneration: INR 1200/day (INR 36000/ month)


We seek a highly motivated and dedicated candidate with experience in Field Research or, field work, or community work, who is passionate about working in the financial inclusion space for women workers. The successful candidate will play a key role in executing the fieldwork activities, conducting & collecting data, among other crucial roles and responsibilities. The selected candidate will work closely with academic researchers, Research and Field staff in implementing the project and attaining the project goals.


What will you do (areas that will play to your strength and all the responsibilities we will trust you with):

  • Conduct, coordinate, and monitor field surveys and other field activities at the project site.
    Plan and manage end-to-end data collection activities, ensuring high data quality and enumerator productivity by strictly following GBL data collection standard protocols.
  • Plan and oversee the day-to-day work of enumerators, including scheduling surveys, obtaining permission for field activities, and maintaining enumerators' leaves.
  • Conduct daily debrief sessions with enumerators and project team members to review field updates, identify issues, prioritise actions, and escalate concerns where required.
  • Oversee daily data quality checks, including verification of previous-day submissions, tracking sheets, mismatch reporting, and back checks during active data collection phases.
  • Ensure field systems readiness, including tablet functionality, form updates, and timely resolution of technical issues.
  • Coordinate daily field updates with Field Associates of enumerators' availability, leave tracking, and field plan revisions.
  • Maintain thorough field documentation, including trackers, project logs, consent forms, and incentive tracking sheets, and ensure timely reporting and submission to the senior field team members.
  • Coordinate with external stakeholders and site authorities (e.g., factory management) to obtain prior permissions, maintain transparent communication, and ensure smooth use of premises for surveys and trainings.
  • Arrange and manage field logistics, including travel, accommodation (if applicable), equipment procurement, and ensuring proper functioning of survey and training tools.
  • Proactively manage small-scale bottlenecks and operational challenges in the field to ensure uninterrupted project implementation.
  • Maintain a professional and harmonious rapport with all stakeholders at the project site.


Who are you? Ideally, you have (The areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most for this role):

  • Bachelor’s/Master’s in Economics, Social Work, or any related field, who understands basic knowledge of social research and data collection processes.
  • Ability to work in a team and be self-motivated
  • Ability to work standard work hours, and should be open to travelling
  • Basic experience in Microsoft Word and MS Excel.
  • Basic knowledge of survey data collection tools and techniques like SurveyCTO, Google Forms, etc., is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to read, write and converse in English and/ or Kannada, and/ or Hindi.
