Contract type: Permanent

Interview date: 1st stage (w/c 25 May 2026) – face to face

The Wellcome Trust is a global charitable foundation. We improve health for everyone by funding science, leading policy and advocacy campaigns and building partnerships.

We plan to spend £16bn over the next ten years, funding new discoveries in life, health, and wellbeing, and taking on three global health challenges: mental health, infectious disease and climate and health. These challenges need the bold science we support, but they won’t be solved by science alone.

We are looking for a Finance Global Process Owner to lead the continuous improvement of Wellcome’s finance and Procurement processes, data and systems/tools.

Where in Wellcome will I be working?

This is a strategic leadership role responsible for embedding best‑practice financial and procurement operations across the Trust and ensuring that Wellcome fully realises the benefits of its recently implemented Oracle Fusion ERP and emerging AI‑driven capabilities, alongside other related systems (Salesforce, Workday, Docusign).

What will I be doing?

Working closely with the Finance Leadership Team, and in partnership with colleagues across Digital & Technology (D&T), Risk and Compliance, you will shape and steward our end‑to‑end finance and procurement processes. You will define the roadmap for process optimisation, standardisation, automation and controls, ensuring that finance and procurement is positioned to support Wellcome’s strategic goals with high‑quality insight, data, and systems.

As a Finance Global Process Owner you will:

  • Own and govern end-to-end global finance processes (e.g. P2P, R2R), including data stewardship, standards, and cross-functional change involvement.

  • Drive continuous improvement through a multi-year roadmap focused on optimisation, standardisation, automation, and measurable KPIs.

  • Partner with stakeholders to identify improvements, enhance customer journeys, and deliver business impact.

  • Ensure compliance with legislation, regulation, and audit requirements, working closely with risk, audit, SMEs, and technology teams.

  • Lead ERP (Oracle Fusion) and digital enablement, maximising system value, advancing automation, and integrating AI and analytics.

  • Strengthen data, reporting, leadership, and culture while leading teams, embedding change, and supporting Wellcome’s strategy, governance, and mission.

Is this job for me?

You will lead and optimise global finance processes, driving transformation through automation, standardisation, and strong stakeholder collaboration. You will ensure compliance, advance ERP and digital capabilities, and enhance data, reporting, and team performance to support strategic goals.

We are looking for somebody who has:

  • Significant experience operating at Finance Leadership Team level, with the ability to shape finance operating models, process standards, and system roadmaps in complex, enterprise-scale environments.

  • A proven track record of delivering end-to-end finance transformation, including ERP-enabled change and post-implementation optimisation with clear, measurable benefits.

  • Strong expertise in ERP systems (ideally Oracle Fusion), and the ability to leverage automation, AI, and advanced analytics to drive efficiency and process excellence.

  • Deep knowledge of core finance processes, internal controls, and best practice financial operations, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights.

  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the confidence to work across finance, technology, and wider business teams while communicating complex ideas clearly.

  • Demonstrated leadership capability, including defining strategic roadmaps, mentoring and developing high-performing teams, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

To apply for this role please submit an updated CV and answer 2 application questions to demonstrate that you meet the minimum requirements for the role.

Minimum Criteria:

  • Extensive leadership experience at Finance Leadership Team level, shaping operating models, process standards, and system roadmaps in complex organisations, with a proven track record of delivering end-to-end finance transformation and ERP-enabled change.

  • Strong expertise in ERP systems (ideally Oracle Fusion), with the ability to leverage automation, AI, and analytics to drive process excellence and measurable improvements.

  • Deep knowledge of finance processes, controls, and best practices, combined with the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights that support organisational goals.

  • Proven ability to define and execute strategic roadmaps, influence senior stakeholders, communicate complex ideas clearly, and build and mentor high-performing teams.
