As the Finance Technology & Process Excellence Specialist, you will be part of the Finance function where you will work across the Finance and Technology teams. In this role, you will act as a process and systems translator, you will engage with stakeholders across finance to understand and document processes, uncover improvement opportunities, elicit and refine requirements, and help shepherd finance technology projects from concept through to rollout. You will proactively champion process optimization, automation, and data integrity across our finance stack (e.g. Concur for T&E, Certina for accounting, GEP for procurement, grant processes, data warehouse and its associated finance data models).

Reporting Lines and Interactions

The Finance Technology & Process Excellence Specialist role will be part of the Finance function and will report to the Head of Treasury, Insurance and Financial Technology. The position will interact with various stakeholders across the Forum, such as Legal, Finance, Procurement, Technology and other internal teams. Building and maintaining robust working relationships with external and internal stakeholders will be part of the role’s responsibilities.

Main responsibilities

Finance Process Analysis & Requirements

  • Engage with Finance sub-teams (e.g. accounting, FPP, procurement, grants, treasury) to review and document existing (“as-is”) and future (“to-be”) processes.

  • Map workflows, decision points, data flows, system interactions, and integrations; identify inefficiencies, redundancies, and gaps.

  • Facilitate stakeholder workshops, interviews, process walkthroughs, and requirement gathering sessions.

  • Translate business / functional needs into clear technical requirements (user stories, functional specs, non-functional requirements).

  • Assist in prioritization, scoping, and defining acceptance criteria for solution features.

Project & Solution Execution

  • Partner with the Finance Technology Lead to drive project planning, resource coordination, risk / issue tracking, status reporting, and delivery oversight.

  • Participate in Agile / Scrum (or hybrid) delivery: backlog grooming, sprint planning, refinement, testing, UAT, and deployment.

  • Ensure alignment between Finance expectations and solution design / implementation.

  • Serve as a link between Finance, Technology, and third-party vendors (e.g. module/tool providers, integrators).

  • Coordinate user acceptance testing, data validation, cutover planning, training, roll-out, and post-go-live support.

System / Tool Governance & Optimization

  • Maintain deep understanding of the finance system ecosystem (e.g. Concur, Certina, GEP, grant tracking, data warehouse, etc.).

  • Evaluate enhancements, integrations, and automation opportunities

  • Define and enforce standards, best practices, and documentation for Finance logic, data interfaces, configuration, and process flows.

  • Monitor system health, data consistency, issue trends, and work with IT to resolve defects and performance issues.

  • Support upgrades, patches, and version migration efforts.

Data & Analytics Enablement

  • Collaborate with Business Intelligence and Data & Analytics teams to align finance data models, define data lineage, metrics, and reporting requirements.

  • Ensure consistent, accurate, and trustable finance data flows from transaction systems into the data warehouse, reporting layer, and analytics tools.

  • Assist in building dashboards, management reports, KPI tracking for finance users.

The successful candidate will be assessed on

  • On-time delivery of finance technology projects, per agreed scope and milestones

  • Quality, clarity, and completeness of translated finance to technology requirements

  • Effectiveness of process improvements and automation (e.g. reduction in manual work, error rates, cycle time)

  • Stability, reliability, and data integrity of implemented systems / integrations

  • User adoption, satisfaction, and support during and after rollouts

  • Stakeholder feedback (finance, technology, cross-functional) on communication, collaboration, and responsiveness

  • Proactivity in identifying opportunities for enhancements or optimizations

  • Compliance with internal standards, documentation, testing, and change-control practices

Requirements and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance / information systems, or equivalent. Project management certification (e.g. CBAP, PMI-BA, or comparable) is a plus.

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in roles bridging finance and technology (business / systems analysis, financial systems implementation, ERP / financial tool integration).

  • Proven track record owning finance / accounting systems, modules, or domain (e.g. expense management, procurement, grants, accounting, ERP).

  • Strong process thinking: ability to visualize, decompose, and optimize complex finance workflows.

  • Skilled in writing clear, concise, and well-structured functional and technical requirements / user stories.

  • Comfortable working with Confluence, Jira (or similar tools), requirement tracking systems, and Agile methodologies.

  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.

  • Strong stakeholder management, communication (verbal and written), facilitation, and negotiation skills.

  • Technical fluency / curiosity: some familiarity with APIs, data modeling, integration, SQL or database concepts is a plus.

  • Ability to adapt in an evolving environment, manage multiple projects and priorities.
