Role

Galvanize has launched its Credit and Capital Solutions business, anchored by a $1.3 billion investment program from a leading institutional investor. Galvanize's Credit and Capital Solutions strategy is designed to meet a growing need for flexible capital across power, manufacturing, efficiency, and resilience. The strategy provides structured non-bank and special situations credit, preferred equity, and opportunistic capital to companies and projects at critical inflection points. Target geographies include the U.S., Canada, and Europe, with a focus on the full energy transition value chain, including utility-scale and distributed renewable energy, grid and storage solutions, fleet electrification, energy efficiency, and advanced materials manufacturing.

Galvanize is seeking a Vice President or Principal to join its Credit and Capital Solutions Platform. This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced investment professional to join a fast-paced, growing investment platform focused on climate and energy transition. This person would be primarily involved with the sourcing, origination, diligence, assessment and execution of new investment opportunities within the strategyThey are expected to demonstrate early indicators of strong investment judgment and be prepared to lead due diligence efforts including initial screening, full transaction diligence, credit agreement and legal document negotiations with the support of third-party law firms, transaction closing, and ongoing portfolio monitoring. Other responsibilities include training and managing the Associates, supporting the Partners and diligence for deals they source, and helping with fundraising and investor partnerships efforts. The Vice President or Principal should have the personal characteristics needed to build a differentiated network of relationships to optimally source opportunities and efficiently diligence them. 

Essential Job Responsibilities 

  • Investment Diligence – Lead diligence processes on prospective investments, including:  
    • Designing and leading execution of diligence work plans
    • Diligencing business and financial models, independently leading calls with management teams, customers and ecosystem participants
    • Managing and supervising financial analysis and preparation of materials for internal investment committee conversations
    • Collaborating with internal and third-party resources to inform technical and policy, and other required diligence
  • Investment Sourcing – Build and leverage relationships and networking to begin sourcing deal opportunities across the decarbonization universe including within renewable energy and infrastructure, manufacturing, electrification, grid and storage solutions, and more.
  • Internal Collaboration – Manage the deal process internally including presenting to internal investment committees and collaborating with internal teams including Science, Technology and Impact, legal, and platform operations throughout the diligence and execution of the deal. 
  • External Collaboration – Manage and participate in workstreams for external collaboration, including but not limited to supporting the investor partnerships team in fundraising efforts, engaging with third party advisors on portfolio valuations, and working with the CFO and their team on fund modeling and fund administration
  • Deal Structuring and Negotiation – Assist (and work closely with deal Partners) in driving key structuring and negotiation workstreams, including deal structuring, terms negotiation and documentation drafting through closing of the deal 
  • Support and Monitoring of Portfolio Companies – The candidate may support management team members of portfolio companies in key operating areas such as finance, business development, introductions, and analyses.
  • Leading and Developing Deal Teams and the Next Generation of VPs – Candidate to play an indispensable role in recruiting, training, and overseeing current Associates.

Qualifications

  • Outstanding intellectual capacity and curiosity, evidenced in part by a strong academic track record from undergraduate and/or MBA (not-required) 
  • 5+ years of work experience in investment banking, private equity or private credit, with a preference for at least 1 year of experience in credit and structured products
  • At least one year of full-time VP-level experience at a top investment bank or a private credit fund with direct exposure to credit underwriting and structuring and quarterbacking closed deals  
  • Experience in leading deal execution for credit transactions, including running diligence processes, assisting in structuring and deal negotiations, and managing a junior deal team
  • Strong quantitative background and extensive experience with financial modelling and analysis  
  • Ability to form independent judgements on investments across a variety of sectors and capital structures through thorough credit analysis
  • A natural inclination to build and cultivate positive relationships in a variety of contexts (e.g., among multiple touch points in a given industry area or subsector)
  • Desire to join a rapidly growing and highly entrepreneurial team
  • References that will enthusiastically attest to the VP’s ability to collaborate well, give effective feedback to peers and managers, learn from mistakes and constructive advice, and lead and influence others while in individual contributor roles 

 Compensation and Benefits 

  • Estimated base salary is approximately $210,000 with flexibility based on experience and qualifications 
  • Role is also eligible for an annual performance-based bonus in addition to the salary
