Newlab is seeking a Global Facilities Leader. This role is for you if you thrive in a dynamic environment that demands both strategic and operational leadership. You will be accountable for developing standards that affect and apply to employees, customers, and third-party vendors/partners. Success in this role requires a deep understanding of facility management and hospitality, global vs. local operations, and maintaining high standards.
There are three priorities for the role:
- Deliver a hospitality-driven facilities experience by ensuring exceptional daily operations, data-backed performance management, and high standards across internal teams and vendors. This starts with Newlab Brooklyn.
- Establish and maintain high facilities standards globally that ensure consistency, an excellent experience, and repeatability across all Newlab locations.
- Lead new location onboarding, expansion, and capital projects to bring spaces online efficiently, safely, and aligned with Newlab’s operational and experience standards.
This is an in-person five-day per week role at Newlab Brooklyn with an expectation of frequent (e.g. 1-2x monthly travel). This role will report to the CEO, manage each location’s facilities leader as direct reports (3+ people), and manage a much larger team of vendors and support staff. Today, Newlab has active physical locations in Brooklyn and Detroit, with locations in the works in New Orleans and Riyadh.
Roles & Responsibilities
Operational Excellence
- Develop, monitor, and meet operational and capital project budgets. Flag variances and implement corrective actions, and report status to leadership proactively.
- Direct comprehensive preventive maintenance programs and schedules for all critical building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, safety) and infrastructure. Ensure maximum operational efficiency, extended asset life, and code compliance.
- Strategic thought leader / partner on future facilities needs and existing facility operational improvements. Project manager for capital projects or similar initiatives.
- Develop location-specific SLAs and standards for facilities (e.g., with vendors).
- Develop and maintain global facilities protocols tailored to the diverse needs of Newlab’s member companies.
- Develop and maintain global EHS protocols, including labs/shop safety protocols, tailored to the diverse needs of Newlab’s member companies.
- Accountable for regulatory compliance for all facilities. Ensure proper documentation.
Global Team & Vendor Management
- Coordinate with local teams to ensure daily operations, including vendors, are meeting standards.
- Collaborate and coach internal teams related to facilities or physical operations.
- Ensure in-house and third-party facilities teams meet operational standards (e.g., ticket SLAs, move-in response times, cleanliness, safety).
- Manage vendor relationships to maintain high operational standards and appropriate cost vs. value.
- Manage relationships with partner infrastructure providers.
Location Onboarding & Compliance
- Ensure new locations comply with Newlab standards at opening.
- Liaise with Construction Contractors as needed.
- Onboard and train local teams on EHS protocols.
- Implement SLAs with partner-led location facilities/tech teams.
- Support onboarding of shops/labs teams as needed.
Experience
- Operational Excellence: Proven record in driving operational efficiency and excellence in facilities management based in data-driven decision making.
- Vendor Management: Experience in managing vendor relationships to ensure high standards of service across a multi-location and global organization.
- Project Management: Capable of overseeing capital projects or similar and ensuring timely, within-budget delivery.
- Team Management: Demonstrable success in leading multifaceted teams and executing cross-functional projects.

Compensation & Benefits
- We expect this role's base salary to be $180,000 - $225,000 commensurate with a candidate's experience.
