Position Summary:
IsraAID’s Health Sector Lead will work under the supervision of the Director of the Technical Unit to develop the sector’s capacity to respond to emergencies and strengthen long-term resilience among country office partners. The sector lead’s roles and responsibilities will be designed according to the development plan of IsraAIDs global strategy, the programs department’s annual goals as well as the country office programs' needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sectoral Development and Technical Support
- Guide the HQ health team on the development of technical knowledge and technical support provided to health program colleagues in the humanitarian missions, in line with IsraAIDs strategy and internal roles and responsibilities.
- Enhance the Sectoral Body of Knowledge in accordance with evidence based international humanitarian guidelines.
- Offer Technical Support to health program teams in both emergency and long-term resilience activities in accordance with the program cycle.
- Offer Technical support to health program teams in countries.
- Develop Tools and Resources:
- Continue designing three identified intervention modules (guidebook, trainer’s handbook, and relevant tools).
- Develop appropriate MEAL tools for various health activities in collaboration with IsraAID MEAL coordinator.
- Create a database for references and links to relevant sectoral resources.
- Program Design and Implementation
- Support Health Program Teams:
- Develop tools for the development, implementation, and conclusion of resiliancealth programs.
- Design standards of operations for health programs.
- Offer exposure and learning opportunities to health teams for the replication and collaboration of programs around IsraAId humanitarian missions globally.
- Offer online guidance and support to Country officers who are implementing health programs.
- Technical Accounability and MEAL:
- Conduct Briefing and defriefing sessions with health team members where appropriate.
- Review project proposals and reports in collaboration with the regional desk and country office.
- Partnerships and Global Coordination
- Coordinate IsraAID’s Health Experts’ Community:
- Facilitate workshops and seminars for health teams.
- Design and implement sectoral orientation for newly recruited health program staff.
- Support Partnerships in Non-Mission Countries:
- Identify and assist IsraAID partners to meet humanitarian programmatic goals.
- Provide technical support to partners for program development.
- Oversee program progress and reporting.
- Coordinate between regional desks, EmOps sector colleagues, and country staff.
- Identify, register and participate in Global Health Working forums of the Humanitarian community aspiring to increase IsraIAD’s alignment and collaborations globally.
- Representation
- Representation and Advocacy:
- Have a thorough understanding of IsraAID’s global strategy and regional contexts.
- Represent IsraAID and advocate for its programs at forums and external events.
- Serve as an advocate for the organization globally.
Essential Skills, Knowledge, and Competencies:
Experience:
- Proven experience in designing and implementing programs in the global south crisis zones, or emergency settings.
- Minimum 5 years of experience working in the humanitarian space.
- Experience working in 2 or more regions globally.
- Minimum 5 years of experience working in medical settings and with medical data collection systems.
- Proven background in health staff guidance and supervision.
Education:
- Relevant academic health background.
IT Skills:
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with communication and collaboration platforms such as Zoom, Skype, or Teams.
