POSITION TITLE: HR Intern (Sri Lankan Nationals only)
POSITION LOCATION: Colombo, Sri Lanka
REPORTS TO: HR and Admin Officer WUSC SL
CONTRACT TERM: 4 Months - WUSC will provide a monthly stipend to the selected candidate during the internship period.
LANGUAGES REQUIRED: Fluency in English is mandatory, and working knowledge of Sinhala and / or Tamil would be an advantage.

BACKGROUND
The World University Service of Canada (WUSC) is a leading Canadian international development organization working in partnership with local stakeholders to advance sustainable development. Established in 1957, WUSC’s mission is to foster human development and global understanding through education and training.
WUSC’s programs focus on supporting youth, women, and marginalized communities across three key thematic areas: education, employment, and empowerment. The organization collaborates with higher education institutions, civil society organizations, private sector partners, and a global network of professionals, volunteers, and community leaders.
We are seeking a motivated and learning-oriented individual to join our team as an HR Intern.
What does an HR Intern do?
The HR internship involves a range of support activities to both learn from and support our HR department, from research/data gathering, You will assist in updating and / or creating HR Related documents.
Key Responsibilities may include
Work environment
Promote and maintain an organizational culture that advances gender equality, reduces power abuse and inequalities, and fosters trust, respect, and safety.
Create a working environment is free from sexual exploitation, abuse, and harassment (PSEA).
Ensure high standards of prevention and response measures for PSEA are in place consistent with the WUSC’s safeguarding policies and WUSC’s Code of Conduct.
Required Attributes
The skills we’re looking for include excellent organization ability, research skills and strong communication skills. To be an ideal candidate for the human resources intern position, you should also hold an HR-related degree and have some experience in our industry. You should be able to work autonomously and remain calm under pressure.
Qualifications and Skills
Currently following a Bachelors’ or Diploma HR / Administration / Secretarial related disciplines.
Fast computer typing skills (MS Office & Excel, in particular)
Familiarize with working on Google Suites (Doc/Sheets/Decks, etc.)
Excellent organizational skills
Strong communications skills
