Impact Lead, Operations/Exco (Internal Opportunity)

We are also inviting applications for a new Impact Lead role at E3G. The Impact Lead role is designed to strengthen our ability to translate strategy into strategic programming and capability delivering outcomes and impact and enabling learning and practice development in support of our mission over time. The Impact Lead sits, along with the Transformation Lead and Chief of Staff, at the heart of our “strategy engine” and is part of building a stronger central spine connecting our programmes and operations


The Impact Lead will work alongside the Chief Programme Officer (Deputy CEO) and wider programme and operational leadership to strengthen and renew our strategies, operating and business models, serving as an enabling function to strengthen strategic programming, capability design and metrics for high impact, integrated programmes and enables continuous learning and practice development towards our pathfinding mission towards being a think tank fit for the 2030s in support of our climate safety for all vision.


The role will

  • Support translation of strategy into strategic programming, working with programme leadership, HR and delivery support functions to align ambition and capability
  • Support strategic planning and reporting to board, funders and stakeholders across impact (programme) portfolio
  • Strengthen organisational learning and practice, building the organisation’s approach to monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning
  • Support the development of learning and development initiatives through the E3G way
  • Support development of how we understand and articulate outcomes and impact over time, and our change model, and support development of frameworks and an evidence base on outcomes and impact
  • Contribute to developing compelling data-driven impact narratives and evidence for partners and funders and for internal engagement, including a range of core products e.g. annual review working with Communications
  • Work alongside the Chief of Staff and Transformation Lead as part of the organisation’s strategy execution enabling “engine” under the leadership of Exco and wider senior leadership group
  • Work with the Transformation Lead to renew and embed strategy, transformation and innovation processes, capability, learning and practice at E3G.


This is not a traditional MEL role but will be uniquely positioned to develop our capabilities in this area, drawing on best practice and where appropriate, external support and partnerships.

For internal applicants, experience working across teams and an understanding of strategy and programme delivery approaches will be a strong advantage.

  • This is a 2 year internal posting
  • The role is open to E3G staff and is expected to be based in an E3G office in London, Brussels or Berlin
  • E3G offers a reward and benefits package which compares well with other organisations within our sector. The indicative salary range for this position dependant on experience/location is:
    • UK - £62,825 to £67,000
    • DEU - €69,496 to €75,000
    • BXL - €66,291 to €75,000
