OVERVIEW

Morning Brew Inc. is looking for a research-focused Product Design intern to sit at the intersection of Product Design and Content Experience. This is a rare opportunity to work inside a fast-moving media-tech company and directly influence how millions of readers discover, engage with, and subscribe to our content.

You'll work closely with the Product Design team and Content Experience PM conducting end-user and audience research that feeds directly into design decisions, roadmap prioritization, and product strategy. Expect exposure to both internal tooling (Astra, our Sanity-based CMS) and audience-facing product surfaces.

Our summer internship position is a part-time role based in our New York office.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

-You'll own 1-2 research projects over the course of the internship, with the possibility of a hybrid research and design execution project

-Across projects you'll plan and conduct user research, synthesize qualitative and quantitative data into clear, actionable insights, present findings to cross-functional stakeholders, and collaborate with the Product Design Team on design artifacts where applicable

-Example projects might include:

Website Reader Experience Audit

-Dig into how subscribers read, understand click, and value content across our web portfolio (Morning Brew, Retail Brew, Tech Brew, etc.)

-Identify patterns by segment and surface actionable opportunities for editorial and product teams

Recirculation Sections Discovery Research and Design

-Explore how readers understand and interact with the recommendations section on our site

-Combine analytics review, surveys, and user interviews to understand what drives engagement and propose or prototype design solutions

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

-A current junior or senior enrolled in a relevant degree program

-Self-directed and comfortable navigating ambiguity

-Collaborative by nature and energized by working across teams

-You ask good questions and follow them through to actionable answers

-You care about craft and want to do meaningful work, not just check boxes

BRIEF BREW HISTORY

Morning Brew Inc. was founded in 2015 by two entrepreneurial college students who noticed their peers were not consuming legacy media resources about business and finance news, but had a high desire to learn about those topics. What started as a small on-campus email has since evolved into a multi-channel media company that operates 20+ unique content franchises. All while maintaining our witty, honest and engaging tone that millions of loyal MBI audience members rely upon daily to better navigate the world.

In 2020 a majority stake in MBI was acquired by Axel Springer SE and in February 2025 that position was increased to full ownership of the business. Axel Springer SE is a family-owned, transatlantic media company headquartered in Berlin and New York that is committed to the values of a free and informed society.
