OVERALL PURPOSE
The purpose of the position is to provide comprehensive day-to-day IT support to Greenpeace MENA staff and ensure that major systems, applications, and digital tools operate effectively and securely. The role works closely with staff, global IT teams, and external service providers to maintain a reliable digital working environment.
The post holder is also responsible for the day-to-day management of the Greenpeace MENA website and CMS following the implementation of new templates and information architecture delivered by an external agency. Acting as a bridge between internal teams, stakeholders, and the technical agency, the role ensures content is updated accurately, communications are coordinated, and the website remains organized, consistent, and up-to-date.
RESPONSIBILITIES
IT Support & Systems
- Provide day-to-day IT support to staff for software, connectivity, collaboration, and remote working tools, including managing IT requests promptly
- Support onboarding and offboarding processes, including account setup, device configuration, and access management
- Maintain IT documentation, user guides, and basic procedures
- Communicate IT-related updates, changes, and instructions clearly to staff
Cybersecurity & Digital Safety
- Support the implementation of basic cybersecurity and data protection practices
- Monitor devices, user access, and systems in line with organizational policies
- Promote safe use of IT tools and good digital hygiene among staff
- Identify potential security issues and escalate them to global IT or external providers when needed
- Ensure compliance with Greenpeace policies related to information security and data protection
Website & CMS Proficiency
- Manage and update website content on a CMS (WordPress preferred), including news articles, campaign updates, and action pages (petitions, events, volunteer posts), ensuring accuracy, well-structured layout, and alignment with agreed standards and templates
- Work effectively with predefined templates, content blocks, and the agreed information architecture
- Monitor website performance, flag issues, gather feedback, and support ongoing improvements to ensure alignment with the agreed Information Architecture and templates
- Ensure the website content and design consistently align with Greenpeace branding guidelines.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE
Educational Qualifications
- A graduate in IT, computer science, or a related field.
Experience & Skills
- 5โ7 years of experience in website management, digital communications, or content operations
- Experience working in an I/NGO or multi-country organization is an advantage
- Ability to support non-technical users and troubleshoot software, operating systems, and connectivity issues.
- Knowledge of best practices for cybersecurity, data protection, and secure access management
- Effective collaborator with colleagues, remote teams, and external providers.
- Strong organizational skills, including managing multiple priorities, content calendars, publishing schedules, documentation, and CMS/digital platform administration.
- Demonstrates integrity, initiative, and a strong customer-focused mindset while delivering high-quality results.
Systems & Tools
The IT Officer supports and administers a range of organizational IT systems and tools, including but not limited to:
- Identity and access management systems (e.g., Okta)
- Collaboration and communication platforms (e.g., Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom)
- Project and task management tools (e.g., Asana, Miro)
- IT service management and ticketing systems (e.g., HappyFox)
- Endpoint security, device, and access management tools (e.g, FortiClient EMS, Workspace One, Bitwarden)
- Internal documentation and knowledge platforms (e.g., GitBook, Intranet)
- Cloud and infrastructure-related systems (e.g, Google Cloud Platform, certificate management systems
