THE OPPORTUNITY
Reporting to the Head, Inclusion, the Consultant, Lead, Inclusion is responsible for advancing the inclusion of refugees and young people with disabilities within country programs. In this role, you will drive the integration of inclusive practices and support program delivery teams to embed disability and refugee inclusion across all pillars of the country strategy.
The Lead provides technical guidance, supports execution, and contributes to the evidence-building and learning necessary to achieve scale and impact in alignment with the Foundation’s vision of dignified and fulfilling work for young people.
The contract duration is 1 year.
WAYS YOU CAN CONTRIBUTE
- Provide technical expertise to integrate refugee and disability inclusion across all phases of program implementation.
- Support program teams in designing and executing initiatives that meaningfully include young people with disabilities and refugees.
- Contribute to program co-creation, partner onboarding, and the development of inclusive work plans.
- Collaborate with Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) teams to ensure inclusion-specific indicators are embedded across the program lifecycle.
- Monitor progress toward inclusion goals and support the use of data to drive continuous learning and improvement.
- Document and disseminate promising practices and lessons learned on refugee and disability inclusion.
- Provide training, tools, and ongoing support to enhance the capacity of internal staff and partners on inclusive approaches and standards.
- Facilitate sessions with implementing partners and internal teams to share insights and deepen collective understanding of inclusive programming.
- Contribute to internal campaigns and content development with Communications and Knowledge Management teams to highlight the Foundation’s inclusion efforts.
- Build and maintain relationships with local and national organizations working with refugees and persons with disabilities.
- Engage in communities of practice and represent the Foundation in relevant inclusion-focused platforms.
- Participate in Foundation-wide inclusion initiatives and contribute to culture-building within country programs.
- Identify potential risks and barriers to inclusion and recommend mitigation strategies to ensure safe, effective, and equitable programming.
WHO YOU ARE
- A bachelor’s degree in social sciences, gender studies, international development, or a related field is required. A master’s degree is preferred or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in designing or implementing inclusion programs, with at least 3 years specifically focused on refugees or persons with disabilities.
- Demonstrated experience working with local organizations of persons with disabilities (OPDs), refugee-led initiatives, or marginalized youth groups.
- Strong understanding of Kenya’s policy and operational context related to disability and displacement.
- Proven ability to support cross-functional teams and influence program design and delivery within a matrixed or partnership-based environment.
- Deep commitment to inclusion, intersectionality, and youth empowerment in Africa.
- Strong interpersonal, facilitation, and collaboration skills, with a high degree of emotional intelligence, humility, and cultural sensitivity.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to tailor messaging for diverse audiences.
- Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Kiswahili or local languages is desirable.
- Ability to synthesize data and insights to inform inclusive program decisions.
- Possess excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills with the ability to articulate information to a variety of constituents across cultures.
- Possess professional maturity, sensitivity with different cultures, and impeccable integrity that exemplifies the Foundation’s values.
