THE OPPORTUNITY

Reporting to the Head, Inclusion, the Lead, Youth Engagement will support in setting direction and engaging partners to build impactful country programs. The role involves providing insights on youth voices, managing relationships with partners and program alumni, and serving as the subject matter expert on youth engagement matters.

WAYS YOU CAN CONTRIBUTE

  • Work in collaboration with the Country Director, Head, Inclusion, Foundation technical experts, including Impact Measurement, Thematic Research, communication teams, and Program Partners, to integrate youth engagement across the Country Roadmap.
  • Work to engage and solicit input from young people and collaborate with the country team to ensure inclusion of youth perspectives in portfolio and program design, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Manage the socialization and delivery of the Foundation’s Youth Engagement strategy.
  • Support implementing partners to build youth engagement and outreach mechanisms, ensuring youth remain at the centre of implementation efforts.
  • Oversee efforts to identify, select and partner with youth-led organizations that will contribute to the Ghana Reimagined roadmap.
  • Lead planning efforts to ensure adequate resources and budgeting to implement Youth engagement approaches into their programs.
  • Work with the internal Knowledge Management team to identify, document, and mobilize youth-related insights and learning from Mastercard Foundation’s current and future portfolio of work.
  • Managing initiatives, events, and platforms to engage program alumni and young people more broadly.
  • Build and maintain relationships with government stakeholders, private sector actors, local organizations and other leaders in the youth empowerment space in Ghana.
  • Provide support to the Country Programs Team to ensure that cross-cutting components of disability inclusion and inclusion of refugees and displaced youth are mainstreamed across all components of the country programs to achieve inclusion targets (currently set at 5% for young people with disabilities and 2% for refugees and displaced youth)
  • Work with the Foundation’s Impact and Design and Learning teams ensure that learning efforts seek to understand and reflect the experiences of refugees and displaced youth and young people with disabilities.
  • Provide ongoing guidance, support, and technical assistance to programs team and partner institutions on inclusion of refugees, displaced youth, and young people with disabilities, including the development and implementation of training and tools.

WHO YOU ARE

  • Master’s degree and/or relevant qualifications in social sciences, including education, gender/women’s studies, or a related discipline focusing on economic empowerment.
  • Relevant professional qualification and membership in a relevant professional body.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in partnership management, including capacity assessment, providing feedback, training, collaborations, and networking for effective gender outcomes.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications (PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
  • Experience planning and delivering gender training for multiple audiences, translating knowledge, synthesizing data, and articulating key insights.
  • Knowledge of the landscape of local, national, regional, and pan-African women’s and youth-serving organizations and networks and country-specific social, economic, and political contexts.
  • Strong communication skills to convey project progress and lessons learned to colleagues and the broader development community.
  • Expertise in developing and applying gender analysis and design tools in multi-sectoral programs.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to contribute as a thought partner in the Foundation’s strategy development.
  • Excellent project management skills, including managing multi-stakeholder projects.
  • Experience working with programs supporting refugee youth and people with disabilities is a strong asset.
  • Results-driven with a sense of urgency, intellectual curiosity, adaptability, and openness to new ideas.
  • Excellent prioritization, time management, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Professional maturity, cultural sensitivity, and impeccable integrity that exemplify the Foundation’s values.
