Legal and Compliance Officer


In this fulltime position you will play a key role in the functions of the BlueOrchard Risk, Legal and Compliance Department, and will support and further develop the compliance and legal function in Switzerland for the BlueOrchard Group and take primary responsibility for day-to-day compliance oversight.


Key tasks and responsibilities

  • Provide compliance advice and support to business and management in Swiss and cross-border asset management and corporate compliance matters, including regulatory developments and industry trends (financial market regulations such as FINSA, FINIA, CISA, GDPR/Swiss FADP, AIFMD/UCITS distribution, etc.) .
  • Review marketing materials and external communications in close collaboration with business stakeholders in an international context.
  • Maintain and further develop the BlueOrchard Compliance program, including policies and procedures, internal control system (ICS), monitoring activities, risk assessments, compliance reporting and training.
  • Support and advise business stakeholders, including Executive Management and the Board of Directors, as well as Schroders Group Compliance, on corporate legal and compliance matters.
  • Coordinate and support regulatory filings, notifications and periodic reporting to relevant authorities (e.g., FINMA) and other governmental bodies.
  • Contribute to cross-jurisdictional legal and compliance initiatives and projects in collaboration with international teams and subject-matter experts.
  • Draft, review and negotiate legal documentation and advise on legal matters in German.
  • Support the compliance operations as needed for the BlueOrchard management company in Luxembourg.


Required skills and experience

  • Legal qualification with specialized experience in asset management legal and compliance, with solid knowledge of Swiss and European regulatory frameworks applicable to asset managers and funds.
  • At least 5 yearsโ€™ professional experience in asset management and/or financial services, including a minimum of 3 years in a Compliance role.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and German are essential.

  • Proven ability to interpret and implement complex regulatory requirements with professionalism, sound judgement and integrity in an international setting.
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to establish effective business relationships across functions and seniority levels.
  • Solid analytical skills, attention to detail and a structured, solutions-oriented approach.
  • Willing and eligible to live and work in Zurich, Switzerland (valid Swiss work permit).
