Position Overview:
The Manager of FP&A plays a key role in influencing leader decision making by using data storytelling and visualization to maximize the value derived from data and analytics. This position contributes to organization-wide management effectiveness by introducing new analytics and insights, delivering high impact financial reports, guiding Finance colleagues, and building reporting capacity and efficiencies across the globe. The Manager works in close collaboration with the Director of Planning and Budgeting, as well as the Field Finance Director, and the Director of Operations Reporting and Planning. The position reports to the VP of Finance and is based in San Francisco, CA.

Duties & Responsibilities:
Reporting and Analytics (60%)
Design and prepare reporting that clearly illustrates financial performance drivers to a non-technical audience, including achievement of annual budget goals, performance trends in expense and revenue, and drivers of performance variance vs budgets and prior years.
Develop insight-driven financial metrics and dashboards that enable effective, impact-focused decision making in collaboration with the CFO.
Use data storytelling that integrates key performance metrics into reporting for C-level leaders to enable effective and timely decision making.
Create innovative analytics and reports to provide increased visibility and insight into revenue and easily understandable views of key concepts. This involves a high degree of partnership with our fundraising leadership.
Automate core reporting using Intacct, our cloud-based budgeting software, as well as other systems and AI tools, identifying their use cases.
Support country offices and field finance team in their development of insightful reporting.
Manage projects and ad-hoc financial analyses to support the CEO, CFO, and senior leadership.
System Optimization (40%)
Manage the continuous enhancement and support of Adaptive, Room to Read’s operational and financial planning tool. Collaborate with subject matter experts and Room to Read’s planning community to review options and direct the implementation of any system changes.
Improve efficiency and effectiveness in a cross-functional integration of systems, including Adaptive Insights, Intacct (Net Suite, SAP), Nexonia, Workday, Salesforce CRM (NPSP), ZIP and others. This includes playing a key role in our cross-system master data governance.
Design and prioritize financial system changes to provide more streamlined data structures that better align with strategic shifts in organizational structure, program design and new business models.
Implement enhancements to financial systems and applications by working closely with the Associate Manager, Reporting and Systems.
Deliver capacity building among field finance and country office teams, and cross train other finance team members and provide support to all users in their development of annual budgets.
Liaise with our financial software and budget software vendors to ensure appropriate, cost-effective levels of support.
Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 7 years of professional experience, at least 5 of which are in FP&A, preferably in the not-for-profit sector.
Expert in data storytelling using data visualization tools, data analytics and reporting systems.
Proven experience in designing high impact financial reporting and building financial models using cloud-based performance management and reporting tools, including budget and general ledger systems.
Prior success in influencing and building relationships with upper management and colleagues in multiple functions and geographies, including Development, Accounting, People and Program Operations.
Expert skill levels in Excel, PowerPoint and data visualization software (e.g., Tableau).
Demonstrated effectiveness in a fast-paced, growth-oriented global or regional organization, requiring flexibility, willingness to learn and adaptability to changing organization priorities.
Track record of successful change management, leading process improvements that meet the growing organization’s needs for timely information-based decision making.
Demonstrated influence, communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
Preferred:
MBA
Successful management of projects targeting design and implementation of information solutions that rely on cross-functional participants
Experience leading organizational behavioral change for process improvement, efficiency building and innovation
Ability to travel internationally if needed
Compensation:
The salary range for this role is US 90,397 - 107,454. Compensation may vary depending on several factors including, but not limited to, experience, skill set, and relevant education or certifications.
