The role

As the Technical Program Management Lead for AI Studio and Gemini API, you will build and lead a high-performing team in a fast-paced environment characterized by continuous launches and a startup-like culture. You will be the strategic partner accountable for bridging cross-functional silos, accelerating the developer feedback loop, and ensuring the success of features and events. You must be AI-native, comfortable navigating extreme ambiguity, and capable of providing stability during rapid scaling. You’ll collaborate deeply with researchers, engineers, and product leadership to drive our mission-critical AI-first architecture.

 Key responsibilities

Successful candidates will be able to: 

  • Bring clarity to ambiguity: partner with researchers & engineers to turn open research questions into clear milestones and actionable plans
  • Steer goal setting processes 
  • Track, report & drive the most critical project dependencies, with an awareness of downstream dependencies
  • Build, maintain and grow relationships with key stakeholders across the program
  • Partner with multiple senior stakeholders across the organization, adapting your approach accordingly. Share critical information with key decision makers and influence positive outcomes.
  • Ensure information is flowing through your programs, keeping leads, team members and partners up to date.
  • Own and drive critical internal processes, such as the weekly AI Studio KR reviews, ensuring high accountability and strategic alignment across all objectives.
  • Build and mentor a team of TPMs, managing their growth and aligning their efforts with 2026 strategic priorities.
  • Accelerate the 3P developer feedback loop and oversee key workstreams like Auth, Billing, and technical strategy for Gemini API.

About you

In order to set you up for success as a Technical Program Manager at Google DeepMind, we look for the following skills and experience:

  • Technical degree or advanced working knowledge. Industry experience to partner on technical strategy.
  • Extensive knowledge and expertise in technical program management with the proven skill to navigate through ambiguity and adjust and adapt plans and strategies as project conditions change.
  • Ability to quickly learn new technical domains, gaining sufficient working knowledge to understand the challenges and risk while balancing perspective and holding a broader view of trade offs and opportunities.
  • Experience partnering with teams in fast-paced environments to drive large-scale program delivery from concept to completion, leading through multiple evolutions along the way. 
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, adapt to change, and provide flexible thought partnership in a rapidly evolving landscape. Openness to each month looking different to the last.
  • Experience in partnering with senior engineering/research leadership and bringing straightforward solutions to complex spaces, both interpersonal and technical.
  • Excellent communication skills, ability to develop meaningful relationships with key partners and use this to influence action and outcomes. 
  • Desire to continue hands on delivery contributing to the most critical technical challenges.
  • You are demonstrably passionate about advancing AI.
  • Proven experience in building and leading technical teams within a startup or high-growth environment.
  • AI-native mindset with the ability to thrive in a culture of "agentic" excitement and constant innovation.
  • Experience in a similar role within the AI/ML fieldExperience in a fast-paced environment such as a startupExperience working in a Program Management Office or similar function

 

The US base salary range for this full-time position is between $227,000 - $320,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your targeted location during the hiring process.
