Work for the IMF. Work for the World. Under the general supervision of the Section Chief of the Technology and Engineering Section in the Creative Solutions Division, CSF. This role requires a specialist who can lead the adoption, development, supervision and maintenance of technology in the Creative Solutions Division. Across the division, lead on R&D work, serve as a thought leader, devise and implement technology strategy, as well as liaise with technology vendors. This role is also pivotal to the effective implementation and efficient running of various content asset management systems. The Technologist will also be responsible for working with colleagues in ITD and elsewhere to monitor and resolve risk issues pertaining to the use of technologies employed by the division. Major Duties and Responsibilities: Provide a broad range of technical support for the divisional daily operations. Coordinate with other technologists, production staff, and end users as needed to successfully meet demand. Troubleshoot a wide variety of Apple Mac and PC issues. Download, install, and trouble-shoot licensed computer software that is related to the video and multimedia production industry such as: Adobe Premiere, After-Effects, Encoder, Audition, and Photoshop. Assist with installation, upgrades and maintenance of professional PC-based non-linear edit systems, including software and hardware. Coordinate routine daily tasks that are associated with the media production environment. Work closely with colleagues in ITD, representing the CS division, to ensure that service delivery is integrated and in line with ITD/CS processes. Monitor and address vulnerabilities in conjunction with colleagues in CSF and ITD. Stay across industry developments, recommend the adoption and support the implementation of relevant emerging technologies that improve the efficiency and quality of creative production. Conduct market research, communicate with vendors, solicit quotes, and facilitate relevant equipment and software purchases. Work flexibly in responding to issues that arise outside regular office hours. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Key Skills and Qualifications: Completion of an advanced university degree in design, marketing, communications technology or a related field; or a bachelor’s degree supplemented by a minimum of six years of relevant professional work experience, is required. Experience of working with broadcast and creative technologies in a complex organization. Thorough knowledge and experience with technology integration and system development methodology. Knowledge of design, installation and implementation of infrastructure and equipment used in high bandwidth data networking, digital media storage on large scale servers, media asset management software. Ability to manage and monitor network devices and processes such as switches, web servers, SQL servers, wireless access points, firewall, proxy server, web filtering, spam filtering, virus protection, email filtering, DNS/DHCP services and port configuring. Working knowledge of networking equipment including switches, routers, servers and patch bays. Knowledge of media formats and signal distribution in a television, radio, or multimedia environment. Familiar with major digital video, audio and graphic formats, file types and technology. Familiarity with commonly used video and audio codecs. Ability to prepare technical documentation and justify approach used, resolve complex issues, explain and/or train staff on technical features of an application or process, and the ability to express technical information to non-technical users. Knowledge of the steps required to design and build a communications network employing multiple communications technologies. Demonstrated ability to reason logically and analyze and solve problems. Ability to define procedural problems, collect and evaluate data, draw valid conclusions and project consequences of various alternative recommendations. Demonstrated ability to complex projects including budgets, timelines and multiple stakeholders. Comfortable working under pressure, prioritizing tasks and managing time effectively. Experience in dealing with high profile multiple-faceted projects. Good interpersonal skills with the ability to interact and communicate effectively with technical staff, managers, and end-users.
