The Mental Health Technical Advisor will provide independent technical advisory services twice per month, with each session lasting up to two hours and delivered either online or in person. The services are consultative in nature. The Mental Health Technical Advisor will not undertake line-management, staff-supervision, performance-management, or disciplinary responsibilities. The Advisor will not manage individual beneficiary cases or represent RI or assume responsibility for project implementation, reporting, indicators, or operational follow-up.

  • Provide specialist clinical consultation to RI’s mental health team on complex and high-risk cases, including severe mental health conditions, suicide risk, psychiatric concerns, protection-related risks.
  • Facilitate multidisciplinary case-consultation sessions based on anonymized case presentations to strengthen clinical reasoning, case formulation, risk assessment, treatment planning, referral decisions, and coordination among Case Managers, Clinical Psychologists, and Psychiatrist(s).
  • Advise on evidence-based, ethical, confidential, patient-centered, and scope-appropriate clinical practice, including mhGAP-informed care, family-centered and recovery-oriented approaches, protection-sensitive referrals, and linkages between PHCC-based and specialized mental health services.
  • Support the professional development of the mental health team through reflective practice, case-based learning, role plays, simulations, and agreed technical sessions on priority topics such as trauma-informed care, CBT, NET, case formulation, and clinical risk assessment.
  • Submit a concise monthly advisory note to RI’s designated Mental Health focal point summarizing the support provided, key technical themes, identified learning needs, and recommended follow-up topics, without including identifiable beneficiary information.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with professional ethics, informed-consent principles, safeguarding standards, and RI data-protection requirements. All case information presented for consultation must be anonymized.
