This part-time internship is a hybrid role located in Nebraska and will be up to 20 hours per week. You will report to the State Director, Nebraska. This internship will run from June 1-August 15. 

Common Cause is seeking an intern to work with our team in Nebraska relating to voting and elections, redistricting, and democracy reform. The intern will support our money in politics work by helping to standardize and institutionalize our annual Money in Politics report. They will aid in processing and analyzing government data to determine how much money is spent in Nebraska politics in a given year and will help develop processes to ease our creation of future reports.

Skills you will build and work you will be involved in:
  • Processing government data into useful formats for analysis 
  • Translating data analysis for a public audience 
  • Web development to present data for public usage 
  • Understanding of government reporting standards for lobbying and campaign finance data 
  • Developing processes to ease future data analysis 


Qualifications:

You will be a good fit for this internship if you have:  

  • A passion for learning about elections, organizing, and the legislative process  
  • A desire and an ability to work in a non-partisan manner   
  • A willingness to build your organizational skills and attention to detail  
  • A willingness to build your writing and listening skills  
  • A willingness to learn new skills
