Position Purpose
This position is part of Senior Team Member of Yayasan IPAS Indonesia, with main tasks to lead the development and implementation of business development and partnership strategy. The tasks include establishing the infrastructure to grow the current annual revenue stream through e.g. solicitation, government grants, competitive bids and corporate and foundation support and maintaining partnership with various key strategic partners of Yayasan IPAS Indonesia. In addition, the Partnership & Development (P&D) Manager is expected to support, mentor and enhance the country team in their business development and communication efforts to ensure increased funding.
The P&D Manager’s role is to provides strategic and innovative thinking to donors communication that aligns to Yayasan IPAS Indonesia vision and mission. The position will craft donor facing materials that support the Yayasan IPAS by cultivating, soliciting and steward funding. The P&D Manager will lead proposal development, develop briefings, maintain regular meetings with a range of funders from high-net-worth individuals, Philanthropy and other donor agencies.
S/he will lead a team that focusing on communicating program strategy & business development plan and will support all aspects of donor (current, targeted, potential) communication activities.
The P&D Manager will directly report to the Director of Yayasan IPAS Indonesia and will work closely with other Senior Team Member to fulfil her/his roles.
Summary of Responsibilities
Strategic
- Develop and implement an organizational business development and fundraising strategy and processes
- Support Yayasan IPAS Indonesia’s strategies and annual planning development from a program development perspective
- Produce regular reports for senior management on business development performance analysis
- With the support from our global development affiliate, advise on donor priorities and identify specific opportunities: Identify, pursue and successfully capitalise on funding opportunities among major funders of sexual and reproductive health and rights, gender based violence, climate crisis and other reproductive justice programs, particularly philanthropy, bilateral and multilateral donors. Track donor funding trends and priorities in Indonesia and communicate these to Executive Director and support teams.
- With the support from our global development affiliate, Advise on potential partnerships with other organizations and agencies and identify specific opportunities: Identify and pursue funding opportunities for Yayasan IPAS Indonesia– either as a lead agency or subcontractor – among major international agencies operating within Indonesia; Conduct partner and competitor analysis, negotiate teaming agreements, and lead or participate directly in large value bids developed by consortia.
- Collaborate with Indonesia teams and Development Service nodes within Ipas Impact network to communicate, and strategize on, new business opportunities and approaches in line with Yayasan IPAS Indonesia and Ipas Impact Network strategy: Work with other senior management teams to develop action plans for new business opportunities.
- Research and produce internal briefs on topics and issues related to new business development (e.g. donor profiles, partner organisation profiles, briefings for meetings and conferences).
- Ensure relevant internal approval processes at different levels are followed on making the decision whether or not to pursue a business opportunity.
Develop successful proposals and budgets
- Project design and document production: Lead the development and writing of successful funding proposals and budgets as agreed with Director and other party within Ipas impact network as Yayasan IPAS Indonesia’s affiliates. This will involve leading or supporting proposal development teams across the organization and, where relevant, using outsourced consultancy services. This includes organising pre-proposal strategy sessions (e.g. developing win themes, SWOTs, partnering assessments); working with technical, management and finance leads on strategy; and ensuring that logframes, budgets and narrative text are developed, reviewed and edited per donor requirements.
- Provide guidance and support to development of proactive concepts, converting ideas into sellable proposals and actively participate in identifying sources of support for such proposals.
- Coordinating efforts between Yayasan IPAS Indonesia, Development Service nodes within Ipas Impact Network and partner organizations: Lead the development of proposals and budgets submitted in partnership with other organizations where Yayasan IPAS is either the primary applicant or a sub-contractor. Negotiate favorable and manageable role in partnership proposals.
- Management of information: Direct the development and maintenance of information required for proposal development including updating capability statements, descriptions Yayasan IPAS Indonesia’s technical areas of expertise, country program and/or project write-ups, development of graphics and presentations.
Strengthen internal new business development capacity
- Strengthen the capacity of Yayasan IPAS Indonesia’s teams: Expand the capacity of Yay. IPAS Indonesia’s team members to participate in technical and cost proposals and other business development efforts through mentoring, technical assistance visits and direct training. Develop and deliver trainings and on-the-job tools and aids as required.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of Yay. IPAS Indonesia’s systems: Help to develop better tools, systems, techniques and strategies for identifying, tracking, and pursuing new business opportunities, developing proposals and budgets, and managing institutional knowledge.
Team Management
- Lead partnership and development team that includes business development and communication staff and consultant for the successful execution of organizational business development and fundraising strategy.
- Support development of communication strategy and its implementation as part of Yayasan IPAS Indonesia’s branding efforts and business development strategy
HR & Administration
- Understand and comply with the HR regulation in Yayasan IPAS Indonesia
- Ensure all activities comply with the regulation in Yayasan IPAS Indonesia
Other
- Perform other related duties as required
Internal & External Customers / Suppliers as well as Third Parties
- Ensure positive and strong donor and host government relation
- Ensure the highest possible level of service to donors: Ensure co-ordinated communication with donors and partner NGOs. This may involve managing relationships for a portfolio of donors. Ensure quality, consistency and continuity in Yayasan IPAS Indonesia’s approach with donors
- Support, build and maintain strong relationships with donors and Indonesia government representatives: This could include representing Yayasan IPAS Indonesia at meetings, conferences and workshops, networking with other NGOs, and working with Executive Directors and other team member to access thematic working groups, as well as other Ipas Impact Network’s teams to support their external relations efforts
- Work with the Executive Director on development and implementation of business development and partnership strategy including on planning, quality implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting
- Collaborate with Managers, unit advisors, specialists and project officers during the process of cultivating, solicitating donors and proposal development
Position Requirements
- Master degree in business, marketing, or other relevant field is required.
- Minimum 7 years’ experience working on writing technical proposals in development, with major donors and business development.
- Knowledge on feminist agenda, sexual and reproductive health and rights, women’s health, gender and climate crisis is a plus. Program management experience is a plus.
- Experience conducting development research and gathering information from multiple sources including desk and field research. Proven ability to facilitate complex, technical discussions of participants with varied perspectives; facilitate design workshops, able to summarize and to identify action items and next steps. Demonstrated ability to distill large quantities of information into concise, salient points.
- Experience working in a non-profit organization.
- Fluent in English and Indonesian (speaking and writing)
- Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
- Ability to travel when needed.
