Can you keep an organisation's financial engine running flawlessly while navigating the complexities of local statutory compliance in a fast-paced, impact-driven ecosystem?

About Tiko

Tiko is an African nonprofit committed to strengthening the potential and resilience of adolescent girls across Africa. We address the “Triple Threat” of unintended pregnancy, HIV infection, and sexual and gender-based violence by building local health ecosystems that provide stigma-free, no-cost, quality-assured services.

Our model brings together key local actors: community-based organizations (CBO) with peer mobilisers who act as health companions to girls; public and private health clinics that deliver care; and retail partners that redeem Tiko Miles -our behaviour-change incentive programme that rewards service uptake and feedback.

We invest in partners by strengthening CBO capacity, training frontline workers and providers, supporting clinic quality improvement, and compensating partners based on performance. Our technology platform connects all actors by enabling referrals, verifying service delivery, facilitating payments, and generating real-time data.

Tiko operates in six countries: Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda, Burkina Faso, South Africa, and Nigeria, with additional offices in Portugal, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. For a clear overview of our work, we recommend watching this short video.

Globally, our team consists of +250 enthusiastic, international colleagues. Whether you are working from our biggest office in Nairobi, the fast-growing office in South Africa, or from home, our people are young, and our culture is global and dynamic. Our work environment is fast-paced, informal, and friendly.

For this position we will happily accept applicants from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The Job

At Tiko, we are on a mission to amplify the power of youth. We build technology and deliver mobile solutions that enable young women to access vital health services and economic opportunities, putting real impact directly into their hands. But brilliant front-end impact requires a robust, rock-solid operational foundation. That is where you come in.

As our Administration and Payment Officer in Ethiopia, you will be the ultimate operational anchor for our local office. This is not about just pushing paper or entering data; it is about owning the end-to-end procurement-to-pay lifecycle, ensuring complete financial integrity, and creating a seamless environment where your colleagues can thrive. You will bridge the gap between meticulous local compliance and global operational excellence, making sure every payment, audit trail, and administrative process is executed flawlessly.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement & Financial Operations

  • Own the local sourcing lifecycle, identifying cost-efficient vendors and optimizing processes to ensure maximum value without compromising on quality.
  • Seamlessly manage accounts payable and receivable, recording transactions accurately and initiating secure bank payments.

Compliance, Audit & Reporting

  • Reconcile bank accounts and credit card ledgers, collaborating closely with the wider finance team to deliver timely, complete, and correct monthly book closures.
  • Act as the local guardian of financial integrity, ensuring every transaction aligns with Ethiopian accounting laws, tax regulations, and internal Tiko guidelines.
  • Drive the filing and safekeeping of all local finance records, actively supporting statutory audits by providing external auditors with flawless, well-organized documentation.

Payroll & Consultant Coordination

  • Support the local payroll process, verifying figures and ensuring the accurate, timely transfer of salaries to respective banks.
  • Manage the generation and distribution of salary slips and relevant tax documents, ensuring employees receive their records on time and in full.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for external accounting consultants, ensuring deliverables are met and aligned with Tiko’s standards.

Office Operations & Support

  • Support the local team with vital organizational logistics, including travel arrangements, material distribution, and coordinating local events.
  • Maintain pristine online and offline administrative records, ensuring data hygiene and information accessibility across the team.
  • Jump into cross-functional projects as needed, lending your operational expertise to support colleagues and drive the office forward.

About You

You believe that conversations matter, you aren't afraid to challenge opinions respectfully to uncover the best solution, and you genuinely care about how your foundational work ultimately supports our end users.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3–5 years of progressive experience in finance administration, operational accounting, or a closely related role, ideally within an international NGO or a fast-paced corporate environment.
  • Deep, practical knowledge of Ethiopian tax laws, statutory compliance frameworks, and local filing requirements.
