ABOUT THE CITIES CLIMATE FINANCE LEADERSHIP ALLIANCE
Trillions of dollars will be required to help cities build the low-emissions, resilient infrastructure necessary to combat and react to climate change. The Cities Climate Finance Leadership Alliance (CCFLA) is the only multi-level and multi-stakeholder coalition aimed at closing the investment gap for urban subnational climate projects and infrastructure worldwide.
CCFLA was launched at the United Nations Secretary General’s Climate Summit in September 2014 and renewed at the United Nations Secretary General’s Climate Summit in September 2019, with the Secretariat held by CPI from this point onwards.
Today, CCFLA has over 80 members committed to deploying finance for city-level climate action at scale by 2030. Its members represent many of the world’s largest city and subnational networks (C40, ICLEI, UCLG, GCOM, among others), major public and private financial institutions (World Bank, EBRD, KFW, among others), governments, and international and research organizations.
CCFLA engages its members in knowledge, collaboration, and advocacy activities aiming to help close the urban climate finance gap. More specifically:
Over the past five years, CPI’s work in the urban and urban infrastructure sectors through CCFLA has experienced significant growth. As part of our key priorities, and to add to our long-term focus on tracking urban climate finance and project preparation, over the past year we have also launched new workstreams on urban adaptation and resilience finance, private sector, and public finance and enabling environments, aimed at catalysing investment in urban climate finance.
To ensure the success of these endeavours, we are seeking an individual who can support the smooth day-to-day operations of the CCFLA program while also contributing to the production of vital deliverables under these workstreams and more broadly across CCFLA, advancing our mission to address climate challenges within urban environments.
POSITION SUMMARY
CPI is seeking a dynamic, highly organized, detail-oriented, and motivated individual to join our CCFLA team. You will work in close cooperation with a range of national and international partners from the policy, finance, and corporate spheres, as well as with CPI teams throughout the world. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is looking to build their career in project management and/or communications in the international urban development and/or climate finance arena.
Day-to-day tasks will include a range of activities including supporting grant and project management processes across CCFLA workstreams; planning and executing membership and external engagement events; supporting workplans for and contributing to CCFLA analytical and communications products, action groups, and workstreams; grant reporting; and managing relationships with CCFLA members and stakeholders. Ultimately, this individual will play a crucial role helping CPI both shape and execute the CCFLA as a high-impact and highly relevant initiative.
