Position Overview

The program operations associate supports the Project Manager with initiatives including a summer reading program, family literacy workshops, read aloud workshops, and book distributions as part of the expansion of an existing literacy project in Collier County, Florida, to include Lee, Hendry, and Glades counties.

The program operations associate liaises with local elementary schools and our partners from organizations that assist those from underserved communities, a responsibility that includes periodic site visits. Acting as the face of Room to Read during these interactions, the associate must have outstanding people skills. The program operations associate also collaborates with internal stakeholders from our publishing, literacy program operations, research, monitoring and evaluation (RM&E), and fundraising departments.

Additionally, the program operations associate collects program information, conducts quality assurance checks to ensure that the data we receive is accurate, tracks project status and deliverables, maintains program resources, such as books, and assists with coordinating various workshops.

The position reports directly to the Project Manager, Program Operations.

Duties & Responsibilities

Project Management (75%)

  • Assist in developing and reviewing operating plans and budgets.

  • Track program deliverables and manage resources, ensuring information remains current for internal and external audiences.

  • Collect monthly and quarterly implementation reports to identify program metrics.

  • Establish new partnerships with local schools and organizations and maintain existing ones.

Monitoring (25%)

  • Conduct periodic site visits to observe programs in progress.

  • Perform quarterly data quality checks, ensuring integrity and resolving issues.

  • Coordinate with local schools and other partners on indicator development, data collection, and quality assurance, assisting with training as needed.

  • Assist in quarterly and annual analysis of program monitoring data.

  • Collaborate with the global Research, Monitoring & Evaluation (RM&E) team to align activities with organizational goals.

Expectations for the first 3 to 6 months:

  • Establish new partnerships/strengthen existing ones

  • Create new and effective report formats and templates

  • Act as a thought partner, especially with ideas on how to expand our reach

Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum of 3-5 years professional experience working in the field of children’s literacy and/or elementary education in the US.

  • Strong analytical skills for data collection and reporting.

  • Ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Outstanding organizational skills with high level of attention to detail.

  • Exceptional communication and people skills.

  • Comfortable learning and working with new technology platforms

  • Strong MS Office Suite skills, with an emphasis on Excel

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
