About the team
The Finance team at WaterAid Bangladesh plays a pivotal role in ensuring robust financial management and accountability across the organisation. They oversee software-based accounting systems, manage payments to vendors and consultants, ensure compliance with statutory and donor regulations, and handle tax and VAT submissions to the National Board of Revenue. With a strong focus on transparency and efficiency, the team also supports grants and partnership management, bank reconciliations, and financial reporting. Their collaborative approach and technical expertise contribute significantly to WaterAid’s mission of delivering clean water, decent toilets, and good hygiene to underserved communities. About the role
Through this role s/he is expected to perform specific tasks which will contribute to but not limited to specific activities/ projects managed by Programmes, and Policy Advocacy (PPA). S/he will support tasks and activities across the team and shall work under direct supervision of a senior team member. Also, responsible to replicate activities with high degree of consistency, communicate across the team, occasionally support activities under programme/ project cycle (capacity review, gap identification, assessment, analysis, design, planning, implementation, monitoring & evaluation).
The position requires a dynamic, passionate, and self-driven individual to support WaterAid’s water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) services and health protection scheme for the poor and marginalised people and influences the government, development partners, private sector, and community to become more responsive and pro-poor in delivering WASH facilities. In addition to that, this role involves implementing and continuously improving in the field of gender equity and prevention of gender-based violence, training programmes, and awareness campaigns to foster a culture of vigilance and accountability across the communities and institutions.
In this role, you will:
1. Programme Management & Support
- Ensure quality delivery by partner NGOs through inclusive, community-based planning.
- Manage programme systems (e.g., mWater, WAPs) and monitor budgets and implementation.
- Provide administrative support for plans, budgeting, and partner coordination.
2. Hygiene Promotion & Software Activities
- Conduct hygiene assessments and lead behaviour change campaigns and trainings.
- Promote community engagement and track programme impact using feedback mechanisms.
- Develop training materials tailored to local needs.
3. Gender-Sensitive WASH Activities
- Integrate gender-sensitive approaches in WASH planning and implementation.
- Promote women’s participation and address barriers to access for marginalized groups.
- Monitor gender outcomes and work with stakeholders to enhance inclusivity.
4. Advocacy & Stakeholder Engagement
- Advocate for equitable WASH services in underserved communities.
- Build partnerships with NGOs, government, and community organizations.
- Represent the organization in forums and coordinate stakeholder events.
5. Knowledge Management & Reporting
- Develop reports, knowledge products, and awareness materials.
- Coordinate data collection and reporting aligned with health and development goals.
The responsibilities outlined above may be subject to periodic review and revision in consultation with the line manager.
To be successful, you will need:
Education: Bachelor/Master’s degree in Social Science, Development Studies, Gender Studies, or a relevant discipline
Experience: At least 3 years of relevant experience in the WASH sector with a reputable national or international NGO or within the development sector, including a proven track record in program/project planning and implementation. Additionally, demonstrated expertise in partner management, gender equity, social inclusion, and GBV prevention
• Experience working with different level stakeholders and partners. Experience working with any safety net programme, health/social protection scheme is an added advantage
Skills and knowledge:
• Adequate computer skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other software application's
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and meet deadlines. Team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Admirable workmanship, interpersonal, facilitation, and presentation skills
• Written and verbal communication skills both in Bangla and English.
