About the role
Through this role s/he is expected to perform specific tasks which will contribute to but not limited to specific activities/ projects managed by Programmes, and Policy Advocacy (PPA). S/he will support tasks and activities across the team and shall work under direct supervision of a senior team member. Also, responsible to replicate activities with high degree of consistency, communicate across the team, occasionally support activities under programme/ project cycle (capacity review, gap identification, assessment, analysis, design, planning, implementation, monitoring & evaluation).
Moreover, this position will be given opportunity to learn and contribute to enhancing WaterAid's technical services across the board with reference to the potential engagement in Technical Services Department through designing, planning, and piloting/implementing ideas/projects. As a part of team collectively work towards designing solution to ensure clean water, safe sanitation, and good hygiene for all; therefore, the position will be given an adventurous challenge to increase digital footprint along with undertaking various communication and advocacy activities, while learning-by-doing through training during the work.
In this role, you will:
1. Technical Support to Partners:
- Assist partners in selecting appropriate sites for WASH infrastructure, ensuring inclusive, climate-resilient, and sustainable access.
- Lead the development of technical designs, BoQs, and cost estimates tailored to specific WASH needs and standards.
2. Monitoring and Oversight:
- Guide and supervise partner technical staff to ensure quality WASH infrastructure implementation.
- Develop construction schedules and monthly variance reports for timely project execution.
- Conduct field visits to monitor construction quality and provide on-site technical support.
- Contribute to technical studies and assessments (e.g. hydrogeological surveys, feasibility, environmental impacts).
3. Capacity Development of Partners:
- Help create technical manuals, guidelines, and training modules to standardize WASH engineering practices.
- Support integration of national and organizational policies into WASH projects.
- Assist in organizing technical trainings, workshops, and knowledge-sharing events.
- Ensure proper rollout and implementation of relevant WASH-related policies.
4. Documentation and Reporting:
- Contribute to documentation, reporting, and presentations as per organizational needs.
- Support assessment and evaluation of pilot initiatives and research/action-research activities.
These responsibilities will be reviewed with the line manager from time to time.
To be successful, you will need:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering degree from any recognised and reputed University of Bangladesh or abroad.
Experience: At least 05 years of professional working experience in water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), Solid Waste Management (SWM), Faecal Sludge Management (FSM), environmental engineering and/or relevant fields
