About the Team

The Project Services Team in the GSMA provides project management capabilities to deliver change initiatives across the mobile industry. Working in close partnership with and subject matter experts within the GSMA and from across the mobile industry, the Project Services team manages a wide range of projects in all areas of the organisation, including Technology, Product Development, Marketing and Events, as well as internal facing projects in IT, Finance and HR.

Project Services is the delivery engine for projects across the GSMA. As well as delivering projects to agreed cost, quality and timelines, the Project Services team maintains a strong focus on delivering benefits to our colleagues, our members and to the mobile industry.

About the Role

As a Project Manager in the Project Services team, you will be assigned to various projects across the organisation and will be responsible for the delivery of assigned GSMA projects and to provide project leadership to the team delivering these projects.

We deliver these projects by partnering with internal colleagues, mobile operators and other companies from the respective ecosystem. You will:

  • Define project objectives, outcomes, scope & deliverables with stakeholders
  • Develop & own project plan with logical sequences, dependencies, milestones, resource allocation & project budget
  • Facilitate supplier selection adhering to GSMA procurement & compliance processes; set clear expectations, and proactively manage suppliers’ delivery to the agreed timeline, budget and quality
  • Identify, manage, mitigate & resolve risks and issues proactively, and apply change controls as appropriate
  • Manage projects end-to-end with cross-functional matrix project teams
  • Facilitate effective collaboration and communications with stakeholders to achieve project progress & outcomes
  • Lead project teams to deliver project outputs according to agreed project methodology
  • Prepare & deliver regular progress report, relevant information & communication to stakeholders (up to C-suites members)
  • Prepare & chair effective project meetings, steering group meetings and workshops as required
  • Adopt PMO standards, processes & tools to create consistency in quality and stakeholders’ experiences

The successful candidate will report into a Senior Project Manager.

This is a hands-on project management role; successful candidates are required to be self-motivated and able to work autonomously to a high standard.

Capabilities:

As a Project Manager you will need the following skills:

  • Experience of managing cross-functional and cross-organisational projects
  • Experience in managing project budgets and applying the relevant change control tactics as required
  • Demonstrate effective stakeholder management and networking skills to build effective internal and external working relationships
  • Able to absorb complex information and communicate effectively at all levels to both expert and non-expert audiences
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communications skills, demonstrating clear and concise communications and written fluency
  • Confidently present to a variety of audiences and conducts excellent presentation and information sharing practices
  • Experience of working in an international and cross-cultural environment
  • Understanding of and a proven willingness to gain understanding of broader operator compliance and governance topics
  • Project Management certification or equivalent experience required
