The Project Manager, Literacy will work on Instructional Design and Teacher Support. S/He will be responsible for managing projects literacy curriculum related to grade 1 and 2 literacy instruction and guidelines related to primary grade library management and activities. This position will be based on Habiganj and will report to Project Director.
Responsible for designing Room to Read’s approach to teacher and librarian professional support to improve students’ literacy skills and habit of reading.
Work closely with training unit, this includes designing and conducting Training of trainers to conduct the trainings;
Conducts an analysis of government curriculum to identify gaps for developing literacy skills;
Identifying content and structure for developing teaching materials, and designing training and workshop modules for Literacy Facilitators and teachers;
Ensures global guidelines are being adhered to and adapted as needed;
Identifying content and structure for developing digital contents for teachers and learners to enhance learners reading skills and habits;
Responsible for designing new initiatives as per GO goals followed by Room to Read’ principles.
Works closely with the Quality Reading Material Unit to ensure reading materials are appropriate and enhance the literacy and library experience;
Manages and supervises the Project Literacy team;
Provides technical support and guidance to staff involved in supporting literacy program implementation;
Support and mentor Literacy Officer, ensuring that project activities are carried out efficiently and effectively;
Plan and coordinate workshops, conferences and meetings for instructional materials development and learning sharing;
Provide technical assistance to the training unit for developing manuals, training modules and documenting best practices.
Provides literacy and library expertise to the MEAL team to support the design, implementation and refinement of monitoring and evaluation systems and procedures used to track progress against planned program outcomes;
Collaborate with the CO Program Operations team on oversight of the implementation calendar, budget, annual planning, quarterly reporting, and overall tracking of program implementation and spending;
In collaboration with the CO Programs Operations team, create, implement and analyze annual program goals and budgets to ensure alignment with organizational strategies and priorities;
Review program reports and respond as necessary.
Collaborate with the GO Development and Communications Teams to write program-specific portions of funding proposals;
Attend donor affairs including donor site visits and documenting anecdotes that evolve through field work;
Liaise with other Global Office team and govt officials to coordinate workplans and share program information;
Participate in other activities, which may be required to be undertaken to fulfill the objectives of the literacy program and any other tasks assigned by the Literacy Director.
A minimum Master’s degree in education or a related field of study
A minimum of 10 years of professional experience
Experience with reading/literacy or learning improvement programs and excellent knowledge and understanding of teaching methodologies, curriculum and teachers training at primary stage
Experience developing educational learning materials for students or teachers
Experience developing and conducting training programs for teachers
Experience in developing and implementing programmatic improvements
Strong planning, supervising, and program development skills
Understanding of monitoring, evaluation, and process documentation
Prior success working closely and building relationships with diverse groups of people and organizations
Ability and desire to travel internationally frequently
Effectiveness in working or volunteering in a non-profit organization that is focused on maintaining high quality work and low overhead
Prior track record of achieving results in a fast-paced, growth-oriented global or regional organization
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
Ability to juggle multiple priorities simultaneously
Experience in language education at the primary stage
Experience teaching at the primary stage
Experience in library management
Willingness & ability to visit program sites extensively;
Skill & experience of working with e-communication & people with diverse culture;
Strong communication skills in Bangla and English;
Excellent computer operating skill;
Ability to work under pressure;
Comfortable in a performance-based organization working with low overhead budget;
