We are looking for a Project Officer to join our Science Policy Labs Team.
Where in Wellcome will I be working?
You’ll be a core part of a growing Science Policy Labs team, working to improve the ways that governments and institutions enable and support science for greatest public benefit. The diverse portfolio will include policy analysis and research, events, thought leadership, advocacy and grants. The topics we work on include securing the conditions for discovery and designing a thriving future UK R&D system; shaping the
global governance of science for effective collaboration and equitable impact; and ensuring policy keeps pace with discovery to drive rapid and responsible progress.
What will I be doing?
You will support the effective management, reporting and communication of a growing portfolio of projects in the Science Policy Labs team. You’ll use your project management skills, alongside strengths in collaboration and communication to ensure the process compliance, smooth running and continuous improvement of the team and its portfolio as a whole. You’ll champion and embed ways of working that strengthen the control environment and portfolio robustness over time.
As a Project Officer, Science Policy Labs you will:
Utilise best practice project management tools and techniques to effectively support project delivery, ensuring adherence to standards and efficient outcomes.
Continuously monitor and report on the progress, issues and outcomes of projects to maintain transparency and drive success.
Manage the governance and control quality of project delivery, maintaining high standards and consistency across all initiatives.
Analyse and troubleshoot project challenges, identifying optimisation opportunities to enhance project efficiency and efficacy.
Foster and maintain external and internal relationships crucial for successful project delivery, facilitating collaboration and resource alignment.
Take ownership of the risk and control environment within your jurisdiction, ensuring accountability for the quality and compliance of outputs from you and your team.
Champion continuous improvement of team processes and delivery culture
Represent the team and communicate our work effectively to internal audiences

Minimum Criteria:
Experience managing a portfolio of projects and knowledge of effective project management processes and practice.
Experienced in the use of project management tools and systems and a good understanding of governance frameworks and compliance requirements in project delivery.
Familiar with project management IT systems, with proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and collaboration tools (e.g., Teams, SharePoint) alongside familiarity with commons systems such as Monday.com. Salesforce and Oracle.
