We work with people affected by violent conflicts to enhance their security and dignity through unarmed civilian protection (UCP). We work to reduce violence and protect civilians in countries affected by violent conflict and its aftermath and to help transform the world’s response to conflict situations.

 

JOB PURPOSE  


We are seeking a dedicated Project Officer to help us build robust structure and processes for our office and team in Baghdad. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys both operational and programmatic work aspects. KEY OBJECTIVES/RESPONSIBILITIES


The following is a list of expected tasks that this strategic role of Project Officer is expected to carry out; however, this list is not exhaustive and other relevant tasks may be assigned by the line manager:

 

Programme Support

  • Provide support for the day-to-day implementation of project activities in accordance with the agreed work plans;
  • Events planning for meetings, workshops, training sessions or other, including logistics of venue, hotel, transport booking, including financial management aspects;
  • Make sure programming activities for the project are adhering to internal and external financial compliance requirements;
  • Ensure that processes for procurement, premises management, and security management for Baghdad office are in accordance to internal processes;

 

Representation and Networking

  • Maintain a positive image of the organization full-time while communicating with external actors, staff or operating in the field;
  • Pro-actively identify spaces for networking at national level, in Baghdad and outside of it;
  • Regularly update the Iraq networking database in accordance with internal processes;
  • Representation and networking outside of duty station, including travel nationally, regionally, and internationally when needed.

Reporting

  • Draft activity reports for programme activity in the defined area of operations;
  • Contribute to regular progress narrative reports as per donor requirements.


QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES

 

The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate the following skills, attributes and experience: 

 

Background

  • A bachelor's degree in International Affairs, Political Science, Law, or other related fields;
  • Minimum three years professional experience in a similar role with NGO/INGO;
  • An in-depth understanding of Iraq context;
  • Must be a resident of Baghdad city;
  • Fluency in English and Arabic (written and spoken) is essential;

 

Skills and attitude

  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills with a wide range of stakeholders at all levels of seniority;
  • Sound personal organizational skills, including excellent time management, strong analytical skills, prioritize tasks, and work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team, including relationships both in person and in remote locations;
  • Ability to show good judgment related to discretion and confidentiality.
