Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced Public Affairs leader to join our growing team. This person will contribute to drive the development and execution of our public policy strategy at the European level.
The role reports to our Global Head of Public Affairs & Communications and is based in Paris.
What you will do
As Public Affairs Lead, Europe, you will be a key in making Mistral AI a global AI champion, thought leader and key contributor in building the future of AI policy and regulatory landscape in Europe, helping to build a regulatory ecosystem that will allow European companies to grow and contribute to public interest.
Your scope will be as follows:
• Monitor and analyze public policy issues and developments related to AI in Europe
• Influence business priorities, and translate them into a policy strategy at European and local levels
• Shape our long term PA strategy in building initiatives, programs and directions (parliamentary roadshows, write position papers, formalize & consolidate our PA narrative, build and deliver lobbying & influence campaigns like coalition, etc)
• Engage with external stakeholders, policymakers, industry players, key opinion leaders to shape constructive political dialogue on AI and technology policy
• Identify, prioritize and craft responses to policy issues that may affect Mistral AI and understand the impact they may have on Mistral AI’s community. Solve policy challenges with multiple approaches.
• Track and advise on important changes in regulatory or legislative matters affecting Europe countries to support cross-functional work on compliance with regulatory requirements and inform business and product decisions.
• Work with Sales on strategies to unlock public sector adoption
• Stay abreast of industry trends and best practices in public affairs and policy advocacy and help consolidate the PA’s team hygiene in terms of regulatory watch

About you
• Bachelor's degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Law, or a related field. A Master's degree or relevant professional qualification is a plus.
• 10+ years of experience in Public affairs, Government affairs, policy, or a related role, successfully impacting policy making and managing complex PA / advocacy programs
• Experience working in a fast pace and/or publicly exposed environments, where PA is critical to business, ideally in the Tech industry
• Strong understanding of the European policy landscape related to AI and technology
• Experience being on the ground, building networks and relations key interlocutors from European institutions and political landscapes, KOL, associations, etc
• Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
• Advanced advocacy skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to distill complex policy issues into clear and concise briefings.
• Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work independently as well as in a team.
• Fluency in English is essential. Proficiency in other languages is a plus.
Now, it would be ideal if you :
• Have a very strong expertise of the EU regulatory frameworks in AI
• Have already worked in-house or served in a GenAI company
