Role Purpose Statement

The Quality Assurance Officer/Data Officer ensures the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of all data collected in the field. The role involves reviewing and validating data, monitoring data quality, and supporting the resolution of issues to maintain high standards of research integrity. The officer will also be responsible for submitting required reports, including police reports, as part of compliance and project documentation.

Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities
The Quality Assurance Officer/Data Officer will work closely with Busara offices and directly with academic researchers and advisory clients to perform a variety of tasks, including, but not limited to:
  • Review and validate data collected from field activities for accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
  • Monitor data entry and ensure adherence to established quality standards and protocols.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies or inconsistencies in datasets.
  • Coordinate with field teams to clarify data issues and improve data quality.
  • Provide regular updates and reports, including police reports if required, to the Project Lead.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information ethically.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Project Lead.


Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Minimum Requirements
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Swahili
  • Basic computer literacy and data entry skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify errors or inconsistencies.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in Social Sciences, Data Management, or a related field.
  • Experience in data validation, QA, or research field support.
  • Familiarity with reporting requirements and compliance documentation.
