Join us! GoFundMe is searching for a Risk Intern who will play an integral role in Risk Management and Fraud Prevention processes that ensure a safe and trustworthy experience for our platform's users! This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in payments risk, fraud prevention, documentation refinement, and collaboration with cross-functional teams like Legal, Go-to-Market, and Governance.

This is a 10 week internship that runs from May 27th, 2026 to August 7th, 2026. Candidates considered for this position will be based in San Diego, CA and will expected to go into the office three days per week.


The Job…

  • Assist in monitoring, investigating, and resolving potential fraudulent activity related to donations and fundraisers.
  • Analyze patterns in transactions and content to identify emerging fraud trends.
  • Support the implementation of tools and workflows that enhance fraud detection and mitigation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners on risk-related initiatives.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of fraud playbooks, escalation paths, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Provide actionable insights from investigations to help strengthen platform defenses.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to refine and organize complex information in an accessible way.
  • Ability to work independently and excel at prioritizing tasks effectively and in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to approach tasks with deliberation and critical thinking, ensuring fair and unbiased decision-making.
  • Values teamwork, exudes emotional intelligence, and approaches challenges with humility and a willingness to learn.
  • Have a passion for understanding and contributing to fraud prevention and documentation development.
  • English fluency is required to support our global audience, and proficiency in additional languages is highly valued.
  • Familiarity with risk management frameworks, data management and technical writing preferred
  • Located near our San Diego office for in-person work.

The hourly rate for this position is $30.00.  As this is a hybrid position, the pay rate was determined by role, level, and possible location across the US. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
