As a part of the Investment and CRM Applications Team, this specific role will provide technical leadership and solution architecture support for the Salesforce platform and configured applications.
Your Role
Our Salesforce Technical Lead is responsible for working with product management, UX, analysts, developers and administrators to implement, integrate and maintain the Salesforce platform, which enables the foundation’s Investment Management (Grants and Contracts), Strategic Portfolio Management, Relationship Management business capabilities, and other specific Salesforce applications to support the foundation’s program teams.
In addition to coding and development activities, this technical lead will play a crucial role in the design and documentation of technical requirements, architecture patterns and coding standards. The Salesforce Technical Lead will serve as the most senior developer and provide technical direction on platform solution design, configuration, development and maintenance. Technical Lead helps fix and resolve production issues and leads root cause analysis to identify and implement long-term solutions. The Technical Lead partners with both business and technical teams to prototype and deliver application solutions with respect to value, quality, information security and end-user experience. The Salesforce Technical Lead participates as a member of the Salesforce platform Service Owner’s leadership team.
The ideal Salesforce Technical Lead will be a strategic problem solver, a skilled communicator, and a great teammate. They will have deep hands-on experience in both administration and development on a global Salesforce org. They will have proven knowledge and expertise with APEX and Visualforce development and are also skilled in designing, architecting, documenting, and delivering complex business solutions on various technology stacks outside of Salesforce to support integrations. This position is an individual contributor and reports to the Senior Manager for Delivery on the Investment and CRM Applications team.
Provide technical leadership to a team of Salesforce Administrators, Business Systems Analysts (BSAs) and Developers to ensure the on-going operations of our enterprise Salesforce org.
Lead Salesforce Developers and Salesforce Administrators and BSA’s to design and deliver elegant, secure, maintainable solutions that meet our customers’ business needs.
Partner with Leadership and business and technical Product Managers in strategy and planning activities.
Partner with Leadership and Technical Product Managers on monitoring the effectiveness of the technology solutions we deliver to enable the foundation’s business capabilities.
Apply functional domain expertise and industry findings to help guide solution option analysis, working closely with both business and technical teams to identify technical and non-technical implications and trade-offs.
Partner with business and technical teams to understand, plan and mitigate impacts of Salesforce releases and releases of other integrated applications.
Engage with and monitor the quality of solution designs and implementation to ensure practical and sustainable solutions are implemented according to Salesforce standards.
Lead and facilitate technical meetings in support of early solution analysis, delivery, and sustainment of our technology solutions.
Effectively document and communicate solution designs with business and technical teams to gain alignment and drive sound solution decision-making.
Stay ahead on new Salesforce features to ensure we are using the application as effectively as possible.
Develop and document code development patterns and standard processes.
Educate and mentor both on-shore and off-shore development team members. Perform timely code reviews to ensure standards are being followed.
Organize/lead prototype development, participate in demos & user acceptance reviews, create design documents and artifacts.
Contribute as a developer for Proof-of-Concepts needed to inform platform technology selection and solution design decisions.
Key technical point of contact for delivery team resources building against the Salesforce platform.
Participate in strategic and implementation planning.
Actively participate in agile delivery ceremonies including daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, sprint planning, demonstrations, and retrospectives.
Bachelor’s Degree with 7+ years of experience, or equivalent experience.
Good interpersonal and customer relationship skills, including the ability to communicate to various levels of the organization and with non-technical partners to derive requirements and priorities.
Strong analytic and problem-solving skills, including the ability to arbitrate and objectively evaluate competing requests across customers and/or the platform.
Able to adjust workstyle and communication to match team or audience, especially when working with non-technical resources.
Ability to produce clear procedures and system and architectural documentation.
Demonstrated experience engaging in and leading delivery teams in fundamental design and architecture principles.
Ability to proactively engage and provide feedback to engineering team members on solution architecture, feature design and implementation.
Solid understanding of quality assurance and technical debt management.
Proactive and timely communication and engagement skills.
Must have Salesforce Administrator Certification(s) and Salesforce Platform Developer Certification(s).
Deep practical experience administering a globally deployed Salesforce org.
Expertise in all aspects of configuration and coding, with the practical skills to identify when configuration vs. customization is needed and direct those requirements.
Knowledgeable in setting up and maintaining roles, profiles, sharing settings, validation rules, advanced formulas, workflows, flows, process builder, reports, and dashboards.
Solid Visual Force understanding.
Experience with the Lightning Web Component (LWS) framework and Lightning Design System.
Proficient writing Apex triggers, classes and unit test development.
Firm grasp of Salesforce API and integration standards, and experience implementing integrations with other business or reporting platforms (i.e. D365, Coupa, Workday, EDW, etc).
Experience with SSO, OAuth and Salesforce connected apps.
Experience with multi-factor authentication (MFA) configuration.
Knowledge of and ability to provide solutions with regards to Salesforce governing limits.
Solid understanding of data structures, data models and schemas.
Understands the DevOps landscape on the Salesforce platform including deployments and source control. Experience with Gearset and/or GitHub preferred, but similar products acceptable.
Experience/understanding of project governance across multiple workstreams in the same Salesforce org.
Experience in all phases of a project including working with technical teams as well as the business users.
Experience leading and supporting activities related to Incident Management, System Event Monitoring and Management, and Problem Management processes.
Demonstrable experience in technology vendor engagement.
Experience leading and facilitating enterprise and feature level solution analysis and decision making.
Strong record of quality assurance and delivery.
Demonstrated delivery with an agile methodology.

The salary range for this role is $154,200.00 to $231,400.00 USD. We recognize high-wage market differences in Seattle and Washington D.C., where our offices are located. The range for this role in these locations is $168,200.00 to $252,200.00 USD. As a mission-driven organization, we strive to balance competitive pay with our mission. New hires salaries are typically between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint. Actual placement in the range will depend on a candidate’s job-related skills, experience, and expertise, as evaluated during the interview process.
