About the Opportunity:

SSC is seeking a diverse and dynamic Program Manager to join its School of Dance department. This position plays a critical role in the ongoing success and growth of the Conservatory and its commitment to the community. The Program Manager has programmatic and artistic oversight of the School of Dance programming and  will also independently teach their own roster of dance students, providing both individual and group dance instruction if applicable. He/she/they will ensure that School of Dance services abide by the standards of the field of dance education as well as reflect the mission of South Shore Conservatory. This position reports directly to the Director of Arts Education and serves as a key representative of the School of Dance  department. SSC’s School of Dance uses various dance genres to foster creativity, artistic growth, and well-being for individuals of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities.

Responsibilities - Essential Functions and Skills:
 
  • Partner with the Director of Arts Education to develop and implement short- and long-term strategies for the School of Dance, focusing on current goals and potential expansion.
  • Collaborate with SSC’s Enrollment and program teams on student placement to ensure alignment between student/family needs and program offerings.
  • Lead, hire, develop and support a team of highly skilled and motivated dance instructors to ensure the delivery of high-quality, relevant instruction.
  • Plan, design, and implement a goal-directed dance curriculum for individuals and groups of varying abilities across both SSC campuses and community locations as needed.
  • Prepare and maintain class plans, observations, progress reports, attendance records, and necessary materials.
  • Stay current with best practices and advancements in dance education and pedagogy.
  • Promote and support SSC programs and initiatives that align with the organization’s mission.
  • Manage School of Dance social media and media presence to promote programming, highlight student/faculty achievements, and support recruitment.
  • Participate in required SSC and departmental meetings and professional development activities.
  • Supervise and evaluate dance practicum students and interns, as appropriate.
  • Coordinate class scheduling in collaboration with School of Dance faculty.
  • Participate in annual performance reviews.
  • Provide additional administrative support as needed.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
 
  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Dance or a related field; Master’s preferred.
  • Significant experience as a dance instructor with at least 3 years of program creation and management experience preferred.
  • Experience providing programmatic guidance or leading others strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in various dance genres and teaching methodologies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and intrapersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary team members.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position is responsible for programmatic oversight and support of the other Dance Instructors and partnering with the Director of Arts Education on team leadership, mentorship, and coaching.

Important Information
  • The salary range for this position is $60-$65K.
  • Beyond the classroom, this job operates in professional environments. This role routinely uses standard digital technology.
  • The schedule is primarily Monday-Saturday, but may also include weekends, nights, and early mornings based on the needs of the organization.
