About CPI
Climate Policy Initiative (CPI) is an analysis and advisory organization with deep expertise in finance and policy. Our mission is to help governments, businesses, and financial institutions drive economic growth while addressing climate change. CPI has seven offices around the world in Brazil, India, Indonesia, South Africa, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
Climate Finance Tracking
Since 2011, CPI has published the Global Landscape of Climate Finance series which has been the global benchmark for robust information on climate finance, providing foundational data for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change 6th Assessment Report, and the UNFCCC’s Biennial Assessment among others. CPI also develops deep dive analysis tracking climate finance flows at sectoral, national and regional levels including the intersection of climate and SDG goals, agrifood systems finance, adaptation and renewable energy working with partners such as the Global Center on Adaptation (GCA), International Development Finance Club (IDFC), the Glasgow Financial Alliance for Net Zero, Bloomberg, the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and many more.
Our unique tracking analysis covers both public and private finance data, providing access through concise reporting and interactive data visualization. Our research provides a baseline and compelling analysis against which to measure progress. This enables us to drive informed climate finance policymaking through three key levers Flows – what investment is flowing to whom, Needs – what is the investment gap to deliver on climate goals and Impact
– what is proving effective and efficient in climate finance.
