The Opportunity: 

We are seeking an accomplished leader to spearhead engagement and partnerships across the corporate and foundation landscapes. This senior role will build mutually valuable and long-term relationships with business leaders, philanthropic funders, and high-net-worth individuals to advance the organization’s strategy and impact objectives. Reporting to the Chief Marketing, Communications, and Engagement Officer, and leveraging Just Capital’s influential Board and unique access to the business community and mission-aligned organizations, this leader will serve as the primary non-Commercial interface with corporate parties, build and steward strategic impact-focused partnerships, and create and lead initiatives that drive growth and diversification of unrestricted funding. The successful candidate will lead and evolve the organization’s engagement team, and in partnership with this team, will be responsible for reimagining our impact narrative and leading ongoing measurement and reporting.

Expectations & Responsibilities: 

  • Lead engagement strategy and execution for the organization, focusing on philanthropy and corporate relationships, securing at least $5M in unrestricted funding for the organization annually.
  • Design and lead comprehensive corporate engagement strategy aligned with Just Capital’s mission, research and convening platforms. Position the organization as a trusted, impact-focused partner to senior business leaders.
  • Build and scale a distinctive, values-aligned individual giving strategy, with a particular focus on high-net worth donors, developing pathways for long-term engagement in Just Capital’s work.
  • Serve as the primary relationship lead for philanthropic partners, stewarding multi-year relationships while identifying and cultivating new strategic funding and partnership opportunities.
  • Partner with CEO and Board to expand and activate philanthropic and corporate funding networks, maximizing giving and partnership capacity, and advise CEO and CMCO on continued evolution of Advisory Councils and senior corporate relationships. 
  • ​​Collaborate closely with the Commercial team to align strategy, pipelines, and execution across philanthropy, corporate engagement, and sponsorship efforts.
  • Identify, test, and pursue innovative models/approaches and alternative funding mechanisms to achieve long-term financial sustainability.
  • Lead the strategic vision for fundraising and sponsorship-driven events, including production and monetization of our flagship annual “best of American business” celebration.
  • Steward the organization’s end-to-end impact story – from our theory of change, through our continual measurement and reporting, and to how we communicate our progress to current/prospective funders and corporate partners.
  • Oversee organizational delivery against all funder agreements, leading through influence cross-functionally to meet and exceed all expectations.
  • Serve as a player-coach in engagement more broadly, combining senior-level relationship leadership with hands-on execution, including direct outreach, strategic communications, contact and pipeline management, and oversight of engagement operations.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 

  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in engagement, development, partnerships, or related fields, with experience across the public, private, and/or social sectors.
  • Proven success in major gifts fundraising and in building long-term relationships with foundations, individual donors, and corporate partners. Strong network of relevant relationships across these stakeholder communities.  
  • Strong partnership development and management skills, with the ability to engage naturally and credibly with senior executives, board members, and other leaders.
  • Demonstrated ability in balancing strategic leadership with hands-on execution and team development.
  • Entrepreneurial, self-directed leader with the ability to translate strategy into operational plans and results.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience with high-stakes external communications.
  • Sound judgment and comfort operating in mission-driven, reputation-sensitive environments.
  • Fluency with AI and emerging technologies, with an understanding of their opportunities and risks.
  • Seasoned team leader, in both direct and indirect capacities. 
  • Demonstrated personal affinity/connection to our mission to help companies create value for all stakeholders.

Location: New York, NY – 4 days a week in the office

Compensation: $150,000-$170,000
