The Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (Global Energy Alliance) The Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (Global Energy Alliance) works for a world where everyone has access to affordable, reliable, clean electricity and the means to use it to improve their lives. Our Alliance builds transformative public, private, philanthropic partnerships to end energy poverty and accelerate green economic opportunity. Founded in 2021 by The Rockefeller Foundation, IKEA Foundation, and Bezos Earth Fund, we design innovative projects/programs, unlock finance, strengthen institutions and transform markets, delivering progress anchored in deep community engagement. By uniting actors across the value chain, from households to heads of state, we go beyond individual projects to drive lasting systems change. With work in more than 30 countries across Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean, our Alliance aims to reach 1 billion people with clean electricity, prevent 4 billion tons of carbon emissions and create or improve 150 million jobs.
What is Grids of the Future (GotF)?
Modernising power grids is the single most critical enabler of the clean-energy transition in the Global South. Across Africa, Asia, and Latin America, fragile and under-invested grids are struggling to meet surging demand from urbanization, industry, and power-hungry sectors like EVs and data centers—while hundreds of millions still lack reliable power. GEAPP is spearheading the creation of ‘Grids of the Future’: renewable-ready, digitized, interoperable, and resilient networks that leapfrog outdated systems to deliver affordable, clean energy.
Anchored initially with champion utilities that serve hundreds of millions of people, Grids of the Future convenes governments, investors, philanthropies, and innovators into one delivery platform. This platform accelerates reforms, mobilizes capital, and scales new technologies—positioning modern grids as the backbone of economic growth and decarbonization.
Opportunity Summary
The Senior Fundraising Consultant, Grids of the Future, will not simply raise capital—they will help shape and advance the fundraising approach needed to modernize energy grids across Africa, India, Latin America and the Caribbean, and Southeast Asia. This opportunity sits at the intersection of energy infrastructure, climate finance, and philanthropy, translating grid transformation into a compelling investment case for donors and catalytic capital providers.
The consultant will lead strategic fundraising that makes grid modernization tangible and urgent—demonstrating how investments in battery energy storage and grid digitization can strengthen reliability, lower system costs, and enable inclusive economic growth at scale. This includes contributing to the development of clear fundraising priorities and narratives that connect technical grid outcomes to real-world development impact.
You will work across a complex funding ecosystem, engaging major philanthropic institutions and multi-donor climate funds, while also co-fundraising alongside partners already deploying donor–government finance at scale. Success depends on aligning diverse incentives while bringing energy, initiative, and follow-through to move opportunities from early engagement to commitment.
The ideal candidate brings a deep understanding of global energy systems and infrastructure finance, paired with the ability to frame a clear, credible “big picture” for philanthropic investors seeking catalytic impact. Just as importantly, they are a self-starting, high-energy operator who combines strategic judgment with execution discipline—delivering early wins that build momentum while laying the groundwork for a durable, multi-region funding pipeline.
