Are you a strategic leader with expertise in digital transformation and data governance? WUSC is currently looking for a Senior Manager, Digital Solutions and Data Governance to provide vision, leadership, and oversight for WUSC’s Digital Roadmap.



BACKGROUND

WUSC is a Canadian global development organization working to catalyze positive education and economic outcomes for young people. We bring together and collaborate with a diverse network of partners (including students, volunteers, schools, governments, not-for-profits, and businesses) who share this mission. Together, we influence systems change, and foster inclusive, youth-centered solutions that enable young people to thrive and belong. We work with all young people, with a focus on women and displaced populations. WUSC currently operates in 28 countries across Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as in Canada, with an annual budget of approximately CAD $65 million. Our global team includes over 100 staff in Canada and more than 250 staff internationally, implementing a diverse portfolio of development projects in collaboration with numerous multilateral and bilateral donors, and philanthropic foundations.



RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the supervision of the Director, HR, Security & IT, the Senior Manager, Digital Solutions and Data Governance will be responsible for overseeing the ongoing digitization and automation of key business processes, and ensuring proper procedures are followed for data quality, security, and compliance across the organization.



Business process digitization and automation

  • Develop and execute tactical plans to achieve long-term digital transformation goals across diverse organization units and country contexts.
  • Identify and prioritize "friction points" in current business processes, and consult with process leads and solution administrators to select digital tools and build digital workflows that solve these friction points, including the identification of opportunities to leverage artificial intelligence for greater automation and impact.
  • Lead change management processes toward the adoption of new digital tools and digital workflows, including leading the monthly Digital Transformation coordination meetings with senior management and the quarterly Digital Roadmap updates with all staff.
  • Encourage and support the coordination of workforce digital upskilling, including skills essential for greater adoption of artificial intelligence.
  • Explore and test potential use cases for artificial intelligence applications in business processes and deliverables, socializing good practices with the global team.
  • Oversee development and use of cornerstone cross-organizational digital products (e.g. Salesforce, Google Workspace), and liaise with team members managing department-specific digital products (e.g. NetSuite, BambooHR) to ensure ongoing alignment of workflows and approaches.



Data governance

  • Develop and socialize policies and frameworks that ensure responsible data management practices are understood and followed by all staff.
  • Maintain WUSC’s global data inventory and support teams to develop advanced data protection plans for confidential data as required.
  • Monitor and respond to potential data breaches.
  • Serve as WUSC’s Data Privacy Officer.



Team management

  • Provide direct management, mentorship, and professional development support to the Senior Officer, Information Systems.

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES

Education

  • Master’s degree in a related field, or equivalent working experience.



Experience & Competencies

  • Proven experience leading cross-functional process mapping, digitization, and automation projects, and the ability to mediate competing priorities across departments.
  • Deep understanding of Salesforce ecosystem best practices, focusing on organization-wide approaches rather than bespoke solutions.
  • Expertise in establishing data governance frameworks, including data quality, security, and lifecycle management.
  • Experience developing data protection plans for highly sensitive data.
  • Knowledge of and interest in emerging AI trends, use cases, and best practices for ethical AI adoption.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills to lead coordination meetings and town halls.
  • Experience driving organizational change and getting buy-in for new technology-driven workflows.
  • Excellent communication skills to translate complex technology concepts to senior management (GLT) and staff.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Curious, enthusiastic and willing to innovate and adapt.


Languages

  • Complete fluency in English is required. Knowledge of French is a strong asset.
