Last year GSMA embarked on a significant investment in its digital transformation starting with an evolution of the Salesforce CRM system to build firm foundations to underpin the entire prospect to cash lifecycle for GSMA and its customers. The Finance function has embraced automation across a number of processes and is keen to continue this journey. With Salesforce Transformation launching in Q3, this is the ideal time to bring in a senior manager to support the automation of billing and collections processes, working closely with subject matter experts within the team.

About the Team

The role will join the senior finance management team working closely with the Financial Controller and Head of Finance Business Partnering to drive the automation agenda. This role will be an integral part of the project delivery team working alongside IT, project services and operations stakeholders.

About the Role

Within the project, this role will represent finance and bringing the relevant experts and points of view when needed. They will act as the interface between the project team and a small expert team of accounts receivable specialists and credit controllers who manage the billing and collection of a large and complex portfolio of products and services which total around £200m in revenue.

A key component of this role will be to identify and recommend both process and systems changes to the steering group, bringing together different stakeholder perspectives from across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

  • Identify opportunities to enhance financial systems and processes by analysing current data, workflows, and technology
  • Support the e-commerce and dunning projects to ensure that the design, development, and implementation of new software or process changes deliver time-saving and process improvements for the finance team and business stakeholders
  • Provide user support and training to finance and business users on the new finance systems and processes implemented.
  • Support the development of an e-commerce capability within the finance team including tools, processes and ways of working to ensure that the delivered solution is scalable and can meet requirements across multiple lines of business.
  • Enhance the provision of reporting and reconciliations to streamline the end-to-end management of GSMA’s e-commerce capability ensuring accurate and timely recording of financial data, maintaining data integrity, and developing reports and dashboards to support revenue recognition and decision-making.
  • Work closely with internal IT teams, external vendors, and various business stakeholders to ensure that financial requirements are well understood and implemented.
  • Design and implement user acceptance testing and training for the finance solutions developed within the project.
  • Drive the adoption of process automation and the maximization of system functionality to improve efficiency and align with the overall finance strategy.

About You

  • Strong technical expertise with various financial systems and reporting tools and a demonstrated ability to learn and adapt to new software and processes.
  • A solid understanding of accounting principles and financial processes to effectively bridge the gap between finance and IT including a detailed understanding of revenue recognition.
  • Ability to analyse financial data, identify trends, and translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders, provide training, and document procedures.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to address system issues and implement improvements.
  • Ability to proactively engage with stakeholders at all levels ensuring that requirements are well understood, documented and considered in the project design.
  • Ability to negotiate and compromise between competing objectives to drive enhancements which deliver on GSMA’s Digital First ambitions
  • Strong proficiency in MS Excel. Strong aptitude with systems and attention to detail.
  • Superior interpersonal skills, oral and written communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
