We are seeking a Senior Privacy Engineer to join our Data Platform and Security team. This role will be instrumental in embedding privacy by design principles into our modern cloud-native data ecosystem. You will improve and operationalize privacy controls across data pipelines, products, and platforms—ensuring that personal and sensitive information is protected while enabling scalable analytics, AI/ML, and product innovation. By working closely with security, engineering, legal, and data teams, you will help us balance compliance with speed, building trust in how data is managed, protected, and used.
This role is based in the San Francisco Bay Area with an in-office expectation of 3x per week.
The Job…
As the Senior Privacy Engineer, you will:
- Embed Privacy by Design: Strengthen and operationalize our Privacy by Design program across systems, integrations, pipelines, and applications for B2B and B2C products and services.
- Investigate & Remediate Incidents: Analyze privacy and security incidents, perform root cause analysis, and drive remediation to prevent recurrence.
- Conduct Risk Assessments: Assist in privacy impact assessments for new products or data uses and risk reviews to identify vulnerabilities in our platforms, APIs, and ML Pipelines etc.
- Optimize Privacy Controls: Design and implement advanced controls for data classification, access management, encryption, anonymization, and pseudonymization.
- Provide Guidance & Enablement: Prescribe guidance and techniques for data anonymization and pseudonymization to the Data Engineering team, enabling the ML team to develop privacy-preserving models.
- Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Partner with security, legal, IT, engineering, and AI teams to align on regulatory compliance and technical implementation.
- Support Compliance: Ensure global privacy compliance (GDPR, CCPA, etc.) across a modern data stack (Snowflake, Databricks, CDP, Looker, AWS etc).
- Innovate Privacy Solutions: Drive the development of new privacy-preserving features, tools, and automation for data lifecycle management.
- Maintain Documentation: Build and update technical documentation covering data flows, tracking technologies, retention policies, and privacy controls.
You…
- 5+ years of experience in privacy engineering, data protection, or security engineering.
- Passion for privacy, trust, and data protection in modern cloud platforms.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to solve complex privacy and technical issues autonomously.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex topics to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Background in secure coding practices, code auditing, and privacy-preserving design patterns.
- Proficiency with Python or other scripting languages for automation and privacy tool development.
- Hands-on experience with cloud environments and integration into data pipelines.
- Awareness of data protection regulations and principles (GDPR, CCPA,) and the ability to translate legal guidance into technical processes..
- Familiarity with privacy tech platforms (e.g. DataGrail, Transcend), Data Subject Requests, cookie and tracking technology management platforms (CMPs) is a plus.
- Experience embedding privacy into modern data platforms (CDPs, Snowflake, Databricks, analytics tools, AI/ML workflows) is highly beneficial.

The total annual salary for this full-time position is $156,000 - $234,000 + equity + benefits. The salary range was determined by role, level, and possible location across the US. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
