Hiring range for a US-based candidate is $95,000 to $115,000.00. Compensation for this position will be determined by the prevailing market rate in the employee's country and the applicable statutory laws, in addition to Ipas's own pay philosophy and other factors, such as the employee's experience level and expertise.

The Senior Training & Capacity Building Advisor will play a key leadership role in strengthening and expanding abortion care with a particular focus on designing, advancing, and sustaining comprehensive training and capacity-building programs for current and future providers, as well as other direct support people such as doulas and community health workers. The Senior Advisor will bring strategic vision, relationship-building expertise, and a deep reproductive justice (RJ) lens to partnerships with provider networks, health systems, movement partners, and reproductive justice organizations.

This role will lead initiatives focused on abortion care training and coordinated partnerships that advance human rights centered and legally informed abortion care across the region. The Senior Advisor will also represent the organization in external spaces and contribute to program development, funding proposals, and organizational learning.

The Senior Advisor will report to the Director of the US Program and work collaboratively with the US Program team and the broader Ipas global network. The role also requires travel domestically and internationally.

Strategic Leadership & Program Management

  • Provide strategic input into the development of the clinical training program and nurture collaborative partnerships that advance reproductive justice principles and expands the availability, quality, and sustainability of abortion care in the U.S.
  • Identify emerging needs, gaps, and opportunities with respect to abortion care and propose innovative strategies, partnerships, or programmatic shifts in response.
  • Collaborate with the Director and relevant network members to shape long-term program goals, evaluation metrics, and systems for ongoing learning and improvement.
  • Develop, organize, and coordinate trainings and capacity-building resources for current and future providers, as well as other direct support people.

Partnerships, Relationship Management & External Representation

  • Identify, cultivate, and steward values aligned partnerships across the continuum of care, reproductive justice groups, and community-based organizations among others.
  • Proactively map new partnership opportunities and build pathways for collaboration across institutional and grassroots landscapes.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for training program partners, ensuring strong communication, shared strategy, and values alignment.
  • Represent Ipas US at conferences, coalitions, webinars, and external meetings, advancing visibility and sharing insights from the field.
  • Demonstrates respect, effective communication and conflict resolution in working relationships with internal and external colleagues.

Other Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development of grant proposals, reports, and funder updates related to training initiatives and partnerships.
  • Collaborate with the Director and network members to develop evaluation metrics and systems for ongoing learning, and document and share learnings and promising practices to strengthen organizational knowledge and inform strategy.

Min Requirements:

  • 8 + years relevant experience, including experience in a clinical setting supporting the provision of abortion care.
  • Strong understanding of abortion provision and barriers, especially in restrictive locations.
  • Demonstrated experience designing or managing trainings, capacity-building programs, or technical assistance in abortion care.
  • Skilled relationship-builder comfortable navigating both institutional settings and grassroots or movement-oriented spaces.
  • Deep commitment to reproductive justice, racial equity, and collaborative movement strategy.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills, with ability to simplify complex information.,
  • Self-starter with strong time management and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft applications, virtual meeting applications, and other computer technology related skills
  • Ability to travel up to 30%

Preferred:

  • Clinical background (e.g., RN, NP, PA, MD
  • Language skills in Spanish
  • Experience facilitating trainings in abortion care
  • Effective facilitation and training skills
