1. Context
Relief International (RI) is an international non-profit organization that partners with communities impacted by conflict, climate change and disaster to save lives, build greater resilience and promote long-term health and wellbeing.
Our team of more than 7,000 staff and local volunteers work in 15 countries across Africa, Asia, and the Middle East, providing Health and Nutrition, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), Education and Livelihoods programming that creates the foundation for community resilience.
We do this by working with local actors to develop safe and inclusive local programming that is evidence based, conflict sensitive, climate smart, and reaches those in need.

2. Job Profile
The Social Assistant will be based at a Health facility to strengthen the referral pathways and facilitate women and girls’ access to information and services. Additionally, the Social Assistant will oversee and provide support to the hotline. The Social Assistant together with the Protection Officer and Assistant will ensure the adoption of safe and confidential protection services in the PHC’s and the availability and suitability of information and guidance on services and activities available for women and girls. The Social Assistant will also assist in providing limited case management services (more focus on referrals) according to the principles of safety, confidentiality and integrity. The Social Assistant reports to the Protection Officer. This position is based in Syria.

Skills, knowledge and expertise required for the role.
• Degree/diploma in counselling, social work or related area (desired); area (desired).
• 1 year experience is desirable, preferably with NGOs.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Arabic are essential.
• Good English language skills preferred.
• Will have excellent self-motivation skills.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions independently.
• Comfortable working in resource-deprived environment.
• Good stamina to stand and work for long hours.
• Adaptable and capable of working well under pressure.
• Ability to work in a team setting, as well as independently without supervision.
• A strong propensity for flexibility, teamwork, and creative thinking will be essential to this job.
