We’re seeking a creative and community-driven Social Media & Events Associate who’s excited to amplify our stories and engage our audience in support of our mission and impact.

Who we are: Roadtrip Nation is a nonprofit career exploration organization that empowers people to define their own roads in life. We’re one part media company and one part education organization. What that means in practice is that we create humanizing career stories and content that power our career resources, educational programs, and tools to support people in building confidence and finding their path forward.

Our award-winning documentary series on public television has been on the air for more than 20 years, covering topics like careers in public service, finding your path after incarceration, women in STEM, and much more. And we wrote a best-selling career guide based on the advice we’ve heard over the last two decades.

We create our primary impact through partnerships with leading social impact organizations and other mission-driven organizations who support this storytelling work on public television and connect our learner-driven career exploration programs and tools to people striving to find their paths in life.

In this role, you’ll be part of a cross-functional marketing and events teams that helps drive brand awareness and create seamless, impactful event experiences.

This is an associate-level role, and you’ll have room to learn, so the most important thing you can possess is a proactive, "self-starter" mindset and a genuine passion for storytelling across digital and physical spaces.

Here are some other things we’re looking for: A sharp eye for social trends (especially short-form video), top-tier organizational skills to handle multiple projects and details and the ability to pivot between creative content creation and data-driven analysis.

This is a full-time position based in Costa Mesa, CA. Candidates must be local and available to come into the office regularly.

What does this position entail?

In this position, you will connect our digital brand with our real-world influence. You will serve as the voice and face of Roadtrip Nation across all social platforms by creating Reels and TikToks, engaging with our community, and monitoring performance metrics. At the same time, you will ensure our physical presence at conferences and events is handled with precision. Your responsibilities will span from managing the content calendar to overseeing the specific run of show logistics for our events.

What we’re looking for:

A multifaceted communicator and organizer. You should have about 2+ years of experience in marketing, social media, or event coordination. You’re someone who is just as comfortable editing a video in CapCut or Adobe as you are coordinating travel logistics or representing our brand in front of a crowd at a national conference.

What does a typical day in this position look like?
  • In the morning: Check social channels to engage with our community, respond to comments, and jump on a trending audio or topic to brainstorm a new post.

  • Mid-Day: Create and capture new content, including filming, asset gathering, and contributing directly to the master content calendar.

  • Afternoon: Switch gears to event planning—coordinating with a venue on shipping materials or drafting a "run-of-show" for an upcoming talk.

  • Wrap-up: Review performance metrics from the week's posts to see what resonated with our audience and use those insights to plan for tomorrow.

What will set you up for success in this role?
  • You live and breathe TikTok and Instagram and understand what makes short-form video click.

  • You are detail-oriented and don't let small logistical tasks (like shipping dates or speaker bios) slip through the cracks.

  • You are comfortable navigating various creative tools like Canva or CapCut and can quickly learn new project management software to keep your tasks on track.

  • You consistently put the learner first by thinking about what kind of information or inspiration would actually help someone who is currently stuck in their career journey.

  • You enjoy looking at the "why" behind the numbers, using social media analytics to figure out which topics are truly resonating with our followers and why.

We started Roadtrip Nation two decades ago to find and share all the different ways to build a fulfilling life and career. We're still out on the road, asking meaningful questions about how people built a life on their own terms, and creating stories about the missteps, failures, and setbacks as well as the joys and successes that are part of pursuing a career aligned to your personal interests. Every story and background adds richness to our culture, and we continually strive to mirror that diversity of stories on our own team. When we hire, we envision a workforce representing as many backgrounds, identities, and roads as possible. We can’t wait to hear more about your story. Note: Research suggests that individuals identifying as Black, Latinx, Asian, Pacific Islander, Indigenous, members of the LGBTQIA community, women, and people living with disabilities may self-select out of opportunities if they don’t meet 100% of the job requirements. We encourage individuals who believe they have the skills necessary to thrive at Roadtrip Nation to apply for this role.  We’re on a mission to create a world where people love their work - and we’re doing it in a casual but often caffeine fueled environment.  Roadtrip Nation creates innovative career exploration products designed to help individuals build livelihoods doing what they love. Help us make life-changing products, pursue meaningful careers and find the perfect zoom meeting snack. This is a high-energy, collaborative and data driven environment.
