Intro to Position

Joining a growing Development division, the Donor Operations Specialist will serve as a strategic partner to the Individual and Institutional Giving teams. This position will be responsible for developing the metrics reporting and pipeline management tools essential to our philanthropic success. This role will also assist with Salesforce maintenance and hygiene, including guidance and training, documenting processes and procedures, and creating automations as needed. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in metrics reporting, a creative and open-minded approach, and a proven ability to build buy-in across diverse stakeholder groups.

Responsibilities

Reporting & Data Analytics

  • Lead the development of reports, dashboards and visualizations that provide actionable data for NPR’s Individual and Institutional Giving teams.
    • Establish consistent frameworks to track and report on individual and team revenue generation, activity performance, and key metrics.
  • Analyze donor segments across all giving levels to provide the Major ($25K+), Leadership ($1K+), and Planned Giving teams with data-driven insights to prioritize future gift opportunities.
  • Partner with the Senior Research Manager to develop portfolio analytics and reporting that drive effective moves management.
  • Support leadership with updates on metrics and strategic insights for division-wide presentation or NPR board meetings.
  • Work closely with fellow Donor Operations Specialist and provide additional project support and coverage as needed. 

Fundraiser Support & Strategic Liaison

  • Oversee the development of donor lists and provide assessment for specialized cross-divisional projects as needed.
  • Execute routine reports and lists in Salesforce; help identify and address operational challenges; and participate in short-term projects to help enhance system usage.
  • Provide training and support standardization and adoption of reporting tools across teams
  • Liaise between technical and non-technical stakeholders to establish the best practices. procedures, recommend actionable items to improve Salesforce hygiene, and resolve any barriers to the success of the project.

CRM & Data Integrity

  • In collaboration with the Senior Salesforce Administrator and Donor Operations Specialist:
    • Develop a comprehensive data audit suite of reports to proactively detect anomalies, ensure data hygiene, and maintain the integrity of the donor database.
    • Document appropriate team Salesforce usage, processes, and workflows.
    • Ensure data quality by following, establishing, and regularly updating quality assurance protocols, processes, and documentation.
    • Support technical projects to enhance system usage and address functional gaps within the CRM.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years of Salesforce NPSP fundraising support and developing reports and dashboards
  • Familiarity with data entry and Salesforce reporting in NPSP
  • This role requires a strong understanding of non-profit fundraising, engagement, acquisition and finance
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment.
  • Experience generating insights from multiple sources across digital platforms, such as the following:
    •  Looker Studio, Tableau or other or data visualization tools.
  • Excellent oral, written, and visual communication skills, particularly for explaining complex quantitative information to non-technical audiences.
  • Experience training non-technical audiences on using dashboards to incorporate business intelligence into their daily decision-making processes.
  • Cultivate and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience fetching data using SQL a plus
  • Familiarity with Salesforce and NPSP table structure a plus
  • Experience with data hygiene in Salesforce or using Cloudingo a plus
  • Experience with data delivered via API to Salesforce from external systems
  • Experience building intuitive dashboards for users with a wide range of fundraising acumen
  • Experience designing benchmarking and evaluation plans for fundraising initiatives

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required. 

Work Location & Requirements

  • NPR Remote-Permitted: This is a remote-permitted role. This role is based out of our Washington, D.C. office, but the employee may choose to work on a remote basis from a location that NPR approves. You will have the option of working (a) remotely from a location of your choosing within the United States that is supported by NPR; (b) on-site at an NPR facility, based on the availability of desks and approval from NPR; or (c) a combination of both. Regardless of where you choose to work from, you may be expected to travel to other locations from time to time to perform the duties of your position.

Job Type

  • This is a full-time, exempt position.

Compensation

Salary Range: The U.S. based anticipated salary range for this opportunity is $80,000 - $85,000, plus benefits. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum salaries NPR expects to provide for new hires for the position across all US locations.

Regular, full-time employees scheduled to work 30 hours or more per week are eligible to enroll in NPR’s benefits options.
