Background

CLEAR Global is a nonprofit organization helping people get information and be heard, whatever language they speak. One of the ways we aim to achieve this is by leading the development of language technology for marginalized languages. This has the potential to shift the power dynamic in emergencies and international development contexts, placing control of communication and information access in the hands of the people in need of support. This includes through the collection of high-quality text and speech data in low-resource languages with communities that can be used to improve and develop language technologies in these languages.

The TWB Voice Platform is a platform for collecting and managing high-quality voice data for language technology development. The system enables Translators without Borders community members to contribute voice recordings through structured workflows, supporting the creation of speech datasets from prompt upload, voice recording, transcription, and integrated validation tasks to quality assure recordings and transcriptions.

The Role

The Tech Intern will work under the supervision of the Program Technology Lead and work closely with the TWB Voice platform product and development team. This is a dedicated position to support the technical team mainly in the quality assurance and maintenance of CLEAR Global’s platforms, especially the TWB Voice platform.
