The Team

CZI and its Biohub Network supports the science and technology that will make it possible to help scientists cure, prevent, or manage all diseases by the end of this century. While this may seem like an audacious goal, in the last 100 years, biomedical science has made tremendous strides in understanding biological systems, advancing human health, and treating disease.

Achieving our mission will only be possible if scientists are able to better understand human biology. To that end, we have identified four grand challenges that will unlock the mysteries of the cell and how cells interact within systems — paving the way for new discoveries that will change medicine in the decades that follow:

  • Building an AI-based virtual cell model to predict and understand cellular behavior
  • Developing novel imaging technologies to map, measure and model complex biological systems
  • Creating new tools for sensing and directly measuring inflammation within tissues in real time.tissues to better understand inflammation, a key driver of many diseases
  • Harnessing the immune system for early detection, prevention, and treatment of disease

Our work in science is focused on doing fundamental research to better understand human biology and building the tools and technology that move science forward to prevent disease and get to cures faster. Join us in accelerating science.

The Opportunity

At CZI, we are generating unprecedented scientific datasets that drive biological modeling innovation:

  • Billions of standardized cells of single-cell transcriptomic data across species, including perturbations and multi-modal datasets.
  • Large-scale whole genome sequencing data to identify genetic variants, requiring secure and compliant handling.
  • Data sourced from internal labs, contract research organizations, and grantees that must be received, processed, validated, and delivered to AI researchers for model training.

As a Senior Technical Program Manager, you’ll lead the orchestration of complex, cross-functional efforts to ensure that sequencing data flows reliably and securely into CZI’s data ecosystem. Working at the intersection of biology, engineering, and AI, you’ll drive clarity and execution across stakeholders, aligning platform scientists, engineers, and data scientists around a shared vision for high-quality, usable datasets that accelerate discovery and model performance.

Success for this role means delivering compliant, analysis-ready datasets at scale—datasets that enable transformative AI research and become part of the public resources CZI makes available to the scientific community. Join us in building the data foundation that will transform our understanding of human biology and move us along the path to curing, preventing, and managing all disease.

What You'll Do

  • Drive cross-functional programs to ingest, manage, and serve large-scale sequencing datasets, ensuring timely, secure, and accurate delivery.
  • Collaborate with platform scientists generating data to align on scope, timelines, and quality expectations.
  • Partner with infrastructure and data engineers to build scalable, reliable ingestion pipelines that meet regulatory and security requirements.
  • Work with data scientists to codify data quality and format standards, enabling seamless downstream use for model training.
  • Manage complex stakeholder relationships across internal teams, CROs, and grantees to ensure successful data delivery.
  • Establish program structures, roadmaps, and milestones that drive accountability and progress across teams.

What You'll Bring

  • 8+ years of experience in technical program management or related roles, with demonstrated success leading large-scale, cross-functional initiatives.
  • Familiarity with genomics and sequencing data modalities (e.g., scRNA-seq, WGS) and their unique challenges in scale, quality, and compliance.
  • Experience managing programs with regulatory or data security requirements, ideally in a biological or healthcare context.
  • Proven ability to coordinate across engineering, scientific, and research stakeholders to deliver complex technical outcomes.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to bring clarity and momentum to ambiguous and multi-stakeholder environments.
  • Enthusiasm for working in a multidisciplinary environment spanning biology, data, and AI research, and for learning new domains quickly.

Compensation

The Redwood City, CA base pay range for a new hire in this role is $153,000.00 - $210,000.00. New hires are typically hired into the lower portion of the range, enabling employee growth in the range over time. Actual placement in range is based on job-related skills and experience, as evaluated throughout the interview process.

Better Together
