Role Overview

Global Citizen is seeking a Vice President of Content to lead our global content strategy and execution within the Marketing & Growth team. This senior leader will oversee a global, cross-functional team of creatives - including Video, Editorial, and Content Deliverable - to grow our movement of action-takers and deepen audience engagement across platforms. Reporting to the Chief Marketing and Growth Officer, the VP will work closely with Global Marketing, Product, Talent, Policy, Broadcast, Office of the CEO and Events teams to ensure content is aligned with our mission, and taps into both key global issues and pop culture moments.


The Vice President of Content will build an agile, always-on content engine that delivers compelling storytelling - from tentpole campaigns to daily editorial - while developing and implementing best-in-class strategies across owned and off-platform channels. They will also support the Global Citizen Content Studio, delivering first-in-class creative work for brand partners, managing revenue-generating campaigns, and collaborating with Corporate Partnerships to pitch and execute original ideas.


This role demands a sharp content mind, a pulse on evolving digital trends, and strong leadership skills to manage people, budgets, and complex cross-team workflows. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and inspiring manager who can rally teams, advocate for resources, and foster a creative, collaborative, and mission-driven culture. They will play a vital role in making sure our content drives both reach and meaningful action year-round.

Key Responsibilities 


Content Strategy 35%

  • Develop a best-in-class global content strategy to deliver organizational KPIs and audience growth. 
  • Responsible for the implementation and maintenance of content strategy across all digital platforms.
  • Discover new platforms and channels to deliver audience growth and monetization. 
  • Implement best practices to ensure understanding of both global and local market nuances. 


Campaign Delivery and Messaging 25%

  • Responsible for Global Citizen editorial strategy, ensuring we remain on mission and brand.
  • Develop, manage an organizational content calendar that supports campaign and brand needs. 
  • Manage grant and partner deliverables, including scheduling and production assignment.
  • Maintain the unique voice and tone of Global Citizen, striking the necessary balance between pop and policy.          


Management and Team Building - 20%

  • Manage and optimize team structure to ensure proper workflow and cross collaboration. Manage content strategy and production budgets, ensuring effective and appropriately priced deliverables.
  • Manage a team of highly creative and productive individuals across the disciplines of Editorial, Video and Grant/Partner Deliverables.

 

Production and Execution - 20%          

  • Work across the organization, with a focus on GPA and Business Development teams to build comprehensive content packages in line with partnership goals.
  • Ensure proper internal and external resources for production assignments. Oversee content production and editing to deliver stellar content packages.


Requirements for Success

  • 10-12 years of content strategy experience with strong knowledge of audience growth tactics.
  • 5+ years experience leading B2C and B2B content strategies to support audience growth at an established nonprofit, advocacy organization, or mission-aligned for-profit.
  • Experience working on global content and multilingual campaigns, with the ability to bring a global perspective.
  • Exceptional communication, writing and editing skills across formats — editorial, social assets, videos, designed graphics, briefs, and more.
  • Strong ability to build strategy, manage teams, and leverage data to inform campaign planning.
  • Creative and innovative thinking, with strong analytical skills. 
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, resourceful, and adept at prioritizing and juggling multiple projects to meet deadlines.
  • Strong project management with the ability to work productively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Professional demeanor with a can-do attitude, willingness to roll up sleeves, strong teamwork skills, comfortable in a highly collaborative, fast-paced, and dynamic team culture.
  • Based in the NYC area, with the ability to work in an office set-up at least 3 times a week.

  • Must be authorized for employment in the United States.
  • Global Citizen operates on a hybrid work model - 3 days (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) in our NYC office and 2 days (Monday & Friday) telecommuting.

  • Salary Range: $155,000 - $160,000
