OVERVIEW

Impact Ventures is seeking a mission-aligned, strategic, and values-driven COO/Director of Operations to lead internal operations and foster a trauma-informed, collaborative team culture. This leader will play a critical role in aligning people, processes, and systems to support our continued growth and drive revenue-generating initiatives.


Position Summary

The COO / Director of Operations is a senior leader responsible for overseeing the internal operations of Impact Ventures while supporting the CEO in driving organizational growth and strategic priorities. This hybrid role blends strategic leadership (COO lens) with tactical execution (Director of Operations lens). The COO/Director of Operations will ensure that our people, programs, and processes are aligned to achieve our mission and strategic goals.


Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership

  • Partner with the CEO in setting organizational goals, KPIs, and growth strategies.
  • Lead cross-departmental planning, ensuring alignment between Programs, Lending, Operations, and Development.
  • Monitor organizational performance and drive accountability across teams.
  • Represent the CEO in internal and external meetings, as needed.
  • Support board engagement, including preparation of reports, updates, and committee support.


Operational Management

  • Oversee daily business operations, ensuring systems and processes run smoothly.
  • Manage HR processes, including hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management.
  • Ensure compliance with nonprofit regulations, grant requirements, and financial controls.
  • Supervise program operations, data collection, reporting, and evaluation.
  • Develop and implement operational policies, handbooks, and SOPs.
  • Oversee vendor management, technology systems, and office operations.


Revenue-Generating Operations

  • Optimize earned income and fee-for-service offerings, including alumni engagement and consulting.
  • Support revenue strategies through operational alignment in sponsorship, and events.
  • Collaborate with finance and development teams to ensure accurate budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Identify new service lines or efficiencies that can increase margin or generate new income.


Qualifications

  • Experience: 7+ years in nonprofit, startup, or social enterprise leadership with a track record in operations, program management, or business management.
  • Leadership: High emotional intelligence with proven ability to lead diverse teams, develop staff, and foster a culture of collaboration and accountability.
  • Skills: Strong technical project management, process improvement, and systems thinking.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with nonprofit compliance, HR practices, financial management, and program operations. Familiarity with tools like Asana, Airtable, Salesforce, Microsoft365, QuickBooks, etc.
  • Mindset: Mission-driven, adaptable, and comfortable operating between high-level strategy and hands-on execution.
