Early Career Programme (ECP) Spring 2025 - Government Engagement, Greater China (6-month contract)
The World Economic Forum, committed to improving the state of the world, is the International Organization for Public-Private Cooperation. Forum Beijing Office is registered as an NGO in China.
The Forum engages the foremost political, business and other leaders of society to shape global, regional and industry agendas.
As part of the Centre for Regions, Trade and Geopolitics (CRTG), the team in Beijing manages the Forum’s overall engagement with government and public sector institutions in Greater China.
Reporting Lines & Interactions
The role will be based in the World Economic Forum’s Beijing Representative Office, reporting to the Head of Government Engagement.
Main Responsibilities
The ECP trainee will assist the team with day-to-day tasks, focusing primarily on central government portfolios and facilitating the participation of Chinese government officials in various Forum events, including but not limited to:
Annual Meeting of the New Champions 2025
Domestic meetings and workshops
Logistical arrangements for internal and external meetings involving government stakeholders
Support on data entry, online research, and other administrative tasks
Specific Tasks are listed as below
Data entry and maintenance in the Forum’s database system
Conduct role mapping for Chinese public figures by identifying sessions aligned with their priorities through research
Translate documents between English and Chinese
Support Forum staff in liaising with external stakeholders
Provide logistical assistance to Chinese officials during major Forum events and domestic meetings/workshops (e.g., badges, hotels, transportation)
Compile documents and supporting materials, and draft official request letters to relevant government counterparts
Follow up with stakeholders in a timely manner to ensure the on-time delivery of key information
Conduct policy research on central and local governments
Provide logistical support for high-profile visits
Perform other duties as assigned
Preferred Requirements and Experience
Full-time graduate student, major is not restricted
Demonstrates integrity, authenticity, and a direct communication style, with the capability to provide constructive feedback
Fundamental understanding of Chinese government operations is essential
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Experience studying abroad or working in international organizations is an advantage
Strong proficiency in both written and spoken English and Mandarin Chinese, with proven records
Excellent skills in drafting professional documents in Chinese
Quick learner with the ability to multitask and perform well under pressure
Preferred start date: between March 15 and April 15,2025
