Full Stack Engineer - Portugal

60 Decibels

Portugal preferred, greater Europe considered

60 Decibels is a tech-powered impact measurement company that makes it easy to listen to the people who matter most. We've been in business as an independent entity since early 2019, when we spun out of the global Impact Investor Acumen.

We believe that the best way to understand social impact is by talking to the people experiencing that impact. It sounds obvious when you say it, but that is not the typical practice for many impact investors, corporations and foundations working to create social change.

We collect social impact data directly from beneficiaries (customers / employees / suppliers) using our network of 1000+ trained research assistants in 75+ countries. We do it quickly and without the fuss typically associated with measuring social impact. Our research assistants speak directly to customers to understand their lived experience; and our team turns all this data into benchmarked social performance reports, with accompanying insights, to help our clients demonstrate and improve social performance.

By making impact measurement simple, scalable, and comparable, we not only enable organizations to improve their products and services; we also help transform what it means to credibly measure impact, ensuring that the voices of those who matter most are always part of the story.

About the Role

Reporting to the Head of Engineering, this role is for someone who wants to build a lot, move fast, and take real ownership. We are building a high-growth SaaS product with a small team. You will be a frontend-leaning full-stack engineer working on core product surfaces used by customers. You will own work from problem definition through delivery and iteration. You’ll be a frontend-leaning full-stack engineer responsible for shipping real products—not just tickets.

We are building a product that investors and decision-makers rely on to understand social impact performance with rigor, speed, and confidence. A customer described the product, Signal, as the “Bloomberg Terminal for impact.”

This requires:

  • Data-heavy, professional-grade interfaces
  • High standards for correctness, performance, and usability
  • Fast iteration based on real customer usage
  • Systems people depend on for important decisions

This role will be remote, and requires meaningful time-zone overlap with our core offices in London, New York and India.

What You’ll do:

  • Build and ship frontend-first features end-to-end
  • Partner on frontend quality: UX, performance, accessibility, maintainability
  • Work across the stack as needed (APIs, data, integrations)
  • Collaborate closely with Product and Design to shape solutions
  • Debug production issues and improve systems over time

This is a role with responsibility for outcomes, not just execution.

About You

  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript / TypeScript (ES6+), HTML, CSS
  • Built and owned data-heavy, analytical product interfaces used by customers to make high-stakes decisions
Hands-on experience with React (Next.js a strong plus)
  • Experience working with Node.js and integrating with backend APIs
  • Proven experience shipping production SaaS products and APIs
  • Solid engineering fundamentals: software design, modularity, testability, code quality

We do not hire based on titles or years alone. We care about what you’ve built and how you show up when things are hard.

How we work

  • Startup environment with shifting priorities
  • Important work may require extra focus or availability
  • Emphasis on follow-through and delivery

We aim for balance over time, not perfect weeks.

AI is core to the role

AI assistance is a core part of how we build.

You are expected to:

  • Use AI tools daily to accelerate development
  • Generate, review, and refine AI-assisted code
  • Apply judgment and take ownership of final output
  • Stay current on how AI changes engineering workflows

We’re looking for engineers who are AI-pragmatic.

You might be a fit if:

  • You take ownership and see work through end-to-end
  • You’re comfortable with ambiguity and fast iteration
  • You have a bias toward action and delivery
  • You care about product quality and real user impact
  • You’re motivated by building something meaningful with a small team
