Media Development Investment Fund (MDIF) is seeking an Impact & Insights Officer to help measure, understand and communicate the impact of our global investments across public interest information companies.


This role sits at the intersection of data analysis, monitoring & evaluation, and strategic insight. You will play a key role in transforming data into clear, compelling narratives that support decision-making, strengthen impact, and demonstrate value to donors, investors, and stakeholders.

We are recruiting to fill one position that will be based in Europe. Engagement is subject to MDIF's ability to contract in that country.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and enhance MDIF’s impact measurement framework and underlying data systems.
  • Collect, analyze, and visualize data across a global portfolio; develop dashboards and reporting tools.
  • Produce quarterly and annual impact reports for internal and external audiences.
  • Standardize data collection processes and ensure data quality across teams and partners.
  • Monitor sector trends and translate findings into actionable insights.
  • Analyze communications and content performance; support storytelling through data.
  • Contribute to fundraising by providing data-driven insights and impact narratives.


Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in impact measurement, data analysis or monitoring and evaluation.
  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, public policy, data science, statistics, economics, political science or related field; or equivalent experience.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in quantitative and qualitative data analysis.
  • Proficiency with data tools: SQL, a BI or visualisation tool (Power BI, Tableau or similar), Python or R, and Excel.
  • Familiarity with MEL frameworks, survey tools, and analytics platforms (e.g. Google Analytics).
  • Ability to translate complex data into clear insights for diverse audiences.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English.
  • Alignment with MDIF’s mission and interest in independent media.

Terms

  • Hours: 40 per week, with flexibility around core CET working hours.
  • Location: remote, from anywhere in Europe. Engagement is subject to compliance with applicable employment, tax and immigration laws. Candidates must have the legal right to work and/or provide services in their country of residence without visa or work permit sponsorship from MDIF.
  • Contract type: depending on the successful candidate’s country of residence, legal status and applicable local law, the engagement may be structured either as employment or as an independent consultancy. Employment may be considered for candidates based in the Czech Republic, Germany or Serbia. An independent consulting engagement may be considered for candidates based anywhere in Europe, including the Czech Republic, Germany and Serbia, where legally permissible and appropriate.
  • Compensation: depends on the country of engagement and the contract structure. We will share the range with shortlisted candidates.
